2012 F350 Leaky Trans
Had the oil changed at our winter home (Ft. Myers). Dealership said transmission was leaking. I had never noticed any fluids on our lot from anything leaking and I really didn't have time to have them get into anything so I told them I would bring it back. Plus, this was the first dealings with this Ford dealership. Well I crawled under and checked myself and sure enough it appears to be leaking a little somewhere. Any other 6.7 owners experience this with their? I am at 34,000 miles.

I have an '06 6.0PSD and during the warranty period there was a fluid leak between the engine and trans that Ford found the rear engine seal was the problem. They took care of it under warranty. I want to say this was at about 60,000 but there's a chance it was going for some time since the dampness looked like it was spread out all over the area and there were some leak spots underneath from where I parked my truck in front of the house. I wasn't in a rush because it was a very slow leak and I suspected the warranty was going to cover it.
Sounds like your problem is not typical of other 6.7s and you don't have very many miles logged. I hope your warranty is still in affect and covered, but don't wait too long. I can't imagine what the cost would have been if I had to cover this repair out of warranty.

I believe the drive train should have a 5 year 100K warranty. I have a 2012 F250 6.7 but no leaks so far. Good luck.. Hopefully all under warranty.

I also have a 2012 F350 but with only a little over 16,000. I guess I will have to crawl under and look. But no drips on the driveway.
I would go ahead and take it in while you are still under the basic bumper to bumper warranty.

My 2006 6.0 F350 SRW had that, and it was covered under warranty. I have not noticed any issues with my 2011 6.7 F350 DRW. Ford should make it right under warranty.

Doesn't sound like this is a common problem. I think I will make the appointment and take it back in. After reviewing warranty it appears that it would be covered through 100,000 miles like mlh says, but I hate to pull the Monte until it is fixed.

None with ours. (6.7,2011). The engine is covered for five years, 100K miles. The power train (trans) is covered for five years, 60K miles.

A good tech should be able to pinpoint the leak and repair it.

Mine started leaking after an oil change, they wanted to change the transmission oil pan gasket. I told them it only started after the oil change, they changed the filter again and it was still leaking. They ordered a pan gasket. I took it home and cleaned everything off and took it for a drive, it was the filter, they were not using a wrench to tighten it.

Be careful about assuming what is covered and what isn't. For example, the transmission may be covered, but if it's cooler line, it might not. Read the warranty carefully - it should psecify what is covered and for how long. Then find out for certain where the leak is coming from to determine if it's covered or not. This is a lesson I learned on glowplugs.

I have always changed my own oil, and have never used a filter wrench to tighten, only to remove. I have always hand tightened the oil filters per the instructions provided without ever having a leak.

That is an excellent point. My bumper-to-bumper runs out in less than 2,000 more miles. Even though the drive train would be covered for longer I would feel more comfortable having it fixed prior to 36,000 miles.

I'm sorry but I didn't say it was covered under the 100,000 warranty. As far as I know only the engine is covered for 100,000 miles. Even then you haft to be careful. Things like hoses are not covered. The transmission should be covered under the 5 60 warranty. Even sone parts of the engine are not covered under some situations. If you get water in your fuel or dirty fuel and your high pressure fuel pump is damaged its an $8000+ repair and is not covered.
