Converter/Battery Charger
Howdy Folks......
New 2016 Montana 3790RD...
Question concerning the quality of the Battery Charger function. I am questioning if the charging function is a "Smart" charger. That is, being kind to the batteries. Not overcharging, etc.
Does anyone know the brand & model number of the converter/charger ??
(I am trying to avoid opening up the area that this is located)
Thank You
Roy

Did you get a stack of manuals? One should be for the converter. Build sheet also list all components with warranty

They've been putting smart chargers in since before our rig sometime. You should be good.

Your converter should be located INSIDE your electrical management panel (breaker box). There is a green light on it that is an indicator of it's present rate of charge dependent on how it is currently "flashing". As stated above you should have a user's manual in all the literature you SHOULD have been given.

The buildings in the background look like those in Chicken, Ak. If the picture was taken there then the chicken is a newer addition as it was not there when my son and I visited Chicken. Wonder if the old dredge is still there.
How Chicken, Alaska's name came about is an interesting story.

The old Dredge and Chicken were there two years ago when we were there.

Howdy Folks.........
Found the manual......Smart charger !! Thank you for the help.
The photo is indeed Chicken Alaska..... Aug 2015. A bunch of mud. In the photo is Lynn, my bride, and our Granddaughter Theresa.
We left there and headed for Dawson City, Yukon Canada. On this trip we were towing out 2010 Raptor 400RBG. 42 ft Toy hauler. It is up for sale.

In my unit, it is located in the "basement" right beside the furnace. It is an Iota DLS-55, some units have the smart charge built in, others like mine require a module to plug into it to make it into a smart charger. If you have a plug that looks like a telephone jack on your converter then it isn't a smart charger unless the module is plugged in. What the smart charger does is boost the charge current to 14v if the battery drops below a specified voltage, off the top of my head I can't recall what it is, 11.5 v or something like that. If you go to the IOTA website they have a complete and comprehensive users manual on the converter (assuming your's is an IOTA). Hopefully this helps somewhat.
