TV Tires

Both Costco and Sam's Club carry what Michelin calls a Club exclusive Michelin Tire. The tire is a Michelin X LT/2 and the tread and specifications are almost identical to the Michelin LTX MS/2. The MS/2 is about $15.00 a tire more than the LT/2. Has anyone used this tire and if so what is your recommendation?

I bought Michelin tires at Costco about 5 years ago on previous pickup. I got probably 50,000 on them with no problems before trading truck in.

Warning.... whatever Michelin you pick, make sure it has the right ratings. A tire dealer tried to save me a few bucks on a "different" Michelins. Fortunately, I checked its ratings and pointed out that I did NOT want them because they were too low. Nice guy tire dealer "almost" steered me wrong. I ended up with MS/2, but I don't remember what the lesser one was called.

Also know that one tire's E rating does not mean it's the same as another tire's E rating. Check the detailed numbers... the spec sheet or the sidewall.

I have the Michelin LTX MS/2 on my dually right now and will not be buying them again. I prefer the Michelin LTX AT/2 as the M/S is good on the highway, but I found it to be horrible in the snow/ice and soft mud. Again, just my opinion.

Thanks for the input. I live in Florida so ice and snow are a non issue. I currently have MS/2's on my Dodge CTD TV and have about 50K on them. When I saw the X LT/2 with the same spec's I wondered if anyone else had tried them and what the results were. I will need to replace the existing tires before setting of for a trip to New England.

Like was said, you have to be careful about not only the E range rating, but also weight capacity. I would have gone with the LTX MS/2 tires on our TV, but the size, 265/70R18 used on the truck only come in a P rated tire, which is nowhere close on the weight rating, so had to replace with the same thing that came on the truck, the LTX AT/2, which has given great service.

Same as Montana Sky. I have run Michelins forever, but they are lousy in snow. Thinking of changing tires next go around. Good wear from the Michelins otherwise, though.

If anyone wants the Michelin LTX MS/2 tires and have LT265/70R18 then just go to the LT275/70R18/E. The load rating is just over 3600 lbs @ 80 psi and they are about a half inch larger in diameter than the LT265. My 2001 Dodge came with them installed and I replaced them 3 times in 350,000 miles. They are a very good tire.

Just an FYI. If you should ever need warranty on price club exclusive Michelin tires, the price club is the only place to get it done. No other Michelin dealer can help you.

There are also great tires on the market made by other than Michelin. I am very happy with my Firestone Transforce HT on my 2500 Ram. Same specs as the Michelin LTX MS/2 that they replaced. No problems after 42,000 and still a lot of tread left. When I purchased them I saved approx $400 over another set of LTX MS/2 Michelins.

The GMC truck came from the factory with Michelin A/T tires which are great on dry pavement, but are a poor traction tire on snow or ice. I need to replace the Michelin tires before winter this Oct/Nov, therefore I'd appreciate suggestions on what is a good replacement tire that is somewhat quite on the highway and provides good traction on snow and ice. I've heard some good reviews on the BF Goodrich A/T, but I don't know if there is something better. Any suggestions are appreciated.

We live in south central Ontario. Michelin LTX MS2's. No issues with winter driving.
