Dishnetwork Alaska

What are my chances of getting Dishnetwork reception in Alaska? We will be spending the summer on the Kenai Peninsula Near Sterling.

Jerry, I live in Seward on the Kenai Peninsula. As long as you can get a CLEAR view of the Southern horizon, you will be just fine. Your dish will need to be 1 meter, not the little one's used in the lower 48.

Thanks Icehouse for the helpful information. I was hoping you might respond. I thought I remembered the dishes being set low to the horizon, but didn't remember the larger size. I’m not very optimistic about our chances because of the tree line to our south.

Thanks a bunch from this Gainesville, Georgia couple - to some former Georgians that are tougher than we are.

Jerry, be sure to let us know when y'all get here. We will have to meet for supper a time or two!

It seems to me they set the dishes at 15 degrees (which may as well point straight to the ground). We haven't been able to get dish to work because of trees and mountains. We did, however, get cable yesterday and I got to watch American Idol, the news and Deadliest Catch all in one night! I was in heaven!!!

If you have any questions please feel free to send us a PM. Glad to help where we can! And we look forward to meeting both of you!
Tammy

Tammy, glad you got hooked up to cable, at least that will give you some more options. We expect to arrive in early June. We are looking forward to meeting you and having dinner sometime. Thanks for the offer of more help, we will probably have some more questions.

We can’t wait to get on the road.
