Power Converter/Charger

Recently I plugged my 03' 2955 RL back up to shore power after it had been off for three days. A day later, I was walking past the trailer and noticed a strong chemical odor. I began to investigate and soon found the odor was coming from the battery compartment. I removed the battery box lid and it was full of condensation. The battery was very hot and the battery cables were discolored and hot. The battery was cooked! I unplugged immediately. I accessed the Parallax Series 7300 converter/charger and it was still warm. It appears it failed to quit charging when it was supposed to. Anyone else ever experienced this? Can the unit be repaired or will I have to replace it? I know I will need a new battery.
