Bit the Bullet

Got my Good Sam's Rand McNally RVND 7725 in today. Glad it came in before my trip to James Island on Thursday. I will review it after my trip but initial observations is great. Big 7" screen (should be able to see that). Initial set up was pretty straight forward. Got my Monte's info all put in and set up. Added several of our favorite CG's into points of interest. It has a pretty big data base of CG's but surprised me that I couldn't find James Island CG in the base. I had to input the physical address instead of quick find in CGs around Charleston. It is on sale at the CW website as an internet only price, but local CW will match that price. If you are a GS member, they have a coupon for a free hard case for it also. I saved $91 before using my $10 CW coupon that I received from a previous purchase so "I had to buy it"! It is the same as the RVND 7720 just branded with the Good Sam logo. Stay tuned for my review after we use it on an actual trip. James Island here we come.

Good Job on the purchase! I'm looking forward to your review.

About those databases, I have never found that ANY database has everything in it. Check on what kind of updates can be done, as oftentimes there are updates. Also contact their website and let them know the campground you know of is not in there and maybe the next update will have it in there.

I haven't updated it yet as it says it might take up to four hours and I have to download the software on my computer. Being at work right now, I can't download the dock on company computer so I will do it when I get home. Still having fun playing with all of the goodies on it though.

UPDATE... It only took about 4 mins to update. All ready been to POI-Factory and downloaded CGs, Flying J's, Truck stops and Rest Areas POIs. I finally found James Island under the Recreation POIs. Doesn't show CG but shows rest of park.

I have used my 7725 for 6 months and I find it very good. I upgrade about once a month, it will get road construction info from states that publish it. I was warned of low clearance on I-55 in Memphis Tennessee

We have the 7720 about 18 months and we are very pleased with it.

Ordered mine online, too. Good discounted price! Got it but haven't used it yet. Look forward to your review/reaction on your trip!

You did well, Steve. The on line price is even lower than employee price by $30.00.

I got my bean bag dash mount, today. Very heavy. Made by Magellan. Not cheap, but it will work great on my Ford dash! Easy to lift the GPS off the bracket for DW searches or for doing updates. Good to go, now.

Hi Chris!
Recommend you get the sunshade. I found with the bean bag the angle was such that it picked up a lot of sun glare.

The sun shade is worth while. I also have bought a case to put it in while not on the dash to keep from scratching the screen.

The sunshade is a must. They didn't make one when I bought my early model 7720 and the mounts wouldn't hold it with the amount of off roading we do so I built my own mount and sunshade. Saw a new model in Charlie's truck the other day and the commercial sunshade looked like just the thing.
