Propane usage

I am three weeks into a trip in Northern Alberta and we have had nice warm days but we have had a lot of nights that have gone down to 25 degrees F so I have been getting about 5 days out of a tank of propane. I have the Arctic package so I have to run the furnace to keep the tanks from freezing.
I disconnect my city water every night because it feezes.

Don, if you have an electric heater or two, that really cuts down on propane usage during the day. At night we reduce propane usage by setting the furnace on about 58, closing the door between upstairs and downstairs, then use an electric heater upstairs. That keeps you toasty upstairs but cold enough downstairs to force the furnace to run enough to keep the pipes from freezing. Also, at 25 degrees you will not likely freeze the pipes in the enclosed belly even if the furnace doesn't run much, in my opinion. At least not from our experience. And your 2006 model is much better protected in the belly than is our 2003 model.

I full-time and use an electic heater. Works great! I use it in the open area while still up and move it to the bedroom at night. I plan to buy another one so I don't have to move it. It gets so hot, I don't put it on the high setting. I purchased mine from camping world (Pelonis Cermamic Heater). Works Great! Better than any i've used in my home. Actually, before I started full-timing I used the same one in my bedroom there. I wasn't about to turn my furnace on in the late winter/early spring to warm up the entire house (2100 sq ft) to just keep my bedroom warm. I agree with Parrothead, electric blankets work good too. In the morning you can always turn on the furnace to break the chill, but it won't take that much. Good Luck!

I purchased a new 3000 RK this year. My first tanks
didnt last very long at all. Had them filled and
2nd time around lasted much longer. Dont think dealer
filled them to the top.

When in the campground we go heavy on the electric/ceramic heaters and easy on the propane. We're paying for the electricity, might as well use it.
