3611RL king size mattress

Our bed has a queen size base and a king size mattress. Problem is when you sit at the end of the bed there is no support and you cannot tuck the sheets in. My question is: Should the dealer fix this or should we figure out what to do? Thank you, Adrian and Johnnie

We need to know what year and model your unit is and if you bought it new or if it was a previously owned unit. This will help you get more answers to your questions.

3611RL is a 2015. Because I have the same issue with the king size bed in ours.

When you order a king mattress from the factory, the lower hinged portion of the bed platform is replaced with a larger piece of plywood that supports the king size bed fully. The default platform is for a queen mattress. If a person elects to add a king bed after the fact, it is a relatively easy job to enlarger the lower support are for the mattress. Year and model should be irrelevant. Hope this helps.

The year and model might matter if, when the slide comes in there isn't room enough for a larger piece of plywood. There's only been one or two models that that would apply to, but they're out there.

Trickto32, very easy to replace the plywood on the top of the platform with new that is slightly smaller than the mattress. Replaced both top and bottom on mine. Just close the bedroom slide and then check to see how much bigger you can make it so that it doesn't run into another part of the unit. John

My DW took another sheet...split it in half and sewed a piece to each side of our main king sheet. Plenty of sheet to tuck in now!!

My 2015 Montana 3611RL Legacy was ordered from the factory with a King size Bed and I am experiencing the same issue as the original quote that was made about this topic.

I would be contacting the dealer, and letting him know that you expect him to make it right. It is very possible the dealer did not specify the king option on the original build sheet and added the mattress themselves!

Dealer/Keystone should fix. When you order a unit with king bed option it's up to Keystone to make the change to a larger platform as well to support the king matt.

Ours is a 2015 bought it new a month ago. It had the mattress in it, which was one of the reasons we bought it. I really hope the dealer will take care of it. I will call Monday and update you.

I called the dealer and they said they have a "easy fix". they want to add a piece of wood at the end of the bed base with a piano hinge. We did not want to argue with these people, so we bought a piece of wood and replaced the old one and we are good to go. I am disappointed on how they chose to deal with this. This is a new unit, we should not have to replace anything on our own.

I just finished making the bottom of our top sheets fitted so the sheet will stay where it belongs. You can google "how to make fitted sheets" and there are several web pages or you tube videos on how to do it. I even did our house sheets because we recently got an adjustable bed and the sheets weren't staying tucked in. Works great now!

I commented on another post that I thought our plywood bed support under the king size mattress looked small. It also has two compartments if I remember correctly. My unit I a 2016 3160 RL LE and if I ever get it back from the dealer I will be able to check this issue. If it is for a queen then I can add that to the repair list.
Supposed to pick up the unit this coming Wednesday for a weekend at Harmony Lakeside RV park on Mayfield Lake which is part of the Cowlitz river in the Cascade mountain range.

Our Big Sky came with the King mattress. The bottom part of the platform is the correct width, but it is about 4" shorter than the mattress. I figure it's because, with the bed slide in, the foot of the mattress is against the cabinet. If the platform was as long as the mattress, it would damage the cabinet. I don't understand why they don't make the top part of the platform as wide as the king mattress, but it's the width of a queen. Our first Montana was the same way.

as far as the storage under the bed someone mentioned, I do have two storage area's under the bed. when you lift the mattress you have storage. If we pull the mattress back it also has a storage area which they should had a door on the outside to access that storage. The access to the back storage under the bed is so difficult we would never see that stuff again. A waste of storage space.

trickto32 - I agree. We used to put stuff in the storage at the head of the bed that we never needed, because it was a pain to get to. Then we thought: "If we never need it, why do we haul it?" Now, that storage area is empty.
