Finger Lakes Area New York

We are looking to take a trip to the Finger Lakes area in New York. Are there any campgrounds/RV Parks you all would recommend?

That's a big area...anything/anywhere in particular you are looking for? What time of the year? We just got our montana, but I know that area very well and I know some of the cg's.

Southwoods RV Park in Byron. We had the Northeast Rally there last year. The owners, Mick & Sue are great people.

I will need to investigate the area in more detail, as I do not really know where we would specifically like to go.

So everyone, any specific things should we go to visit? We do like to tour wineries as part of the trip.

Thanks

Below is a link to cg's in that area.

Wineries.....I'd check into Canandaigua and Hammondsport area. Canandaigua has a new casino that's nice too (farmington), the downtown area (albeit busy) has some nice attractions, especially the food and wine institute. If you like camping in state/national parks, I'd seriously look into Letchworth park. You can easily daytrip to all the fingerlakes region/wineries from there, it's an AWESOME setting and a MASSIVE park...grand canyon of ny. The gorge, waterfalls, dam, wildlife, etc.,etc.

Depending on if you want "out of the way" cg's or not would be a determining factor in your decision coupled with when you plan on doing this. One things for sure...fall foliage ROCKS in the finger lakes region.

Here's that link:

There is a KOA campground in Watkins Glen, New York that is great. It is a bit pricey but the sites are nice and large. Many have concrete patios with a swing and a site light. Also, an indoor heated pool and hot tub. It is close to the Watkins Glen International raceway. Free wi-fi. We have stayed there many times especially in the fall. It is close to the wineries.

Don't miss Letchworth State Park, known as the Grand Canyon of the East (can't really compare to the real thing but it is a beautiful park). I'm in the Genesee Valley area and have room and can supply Water and Electric if you wanted to check out some of this area.
