Sharing too much, I think!
Ok I talk too much and write way too much! I need to share the nicest compliment I have had in long time. My mothers first cousin (Davis) sent me photos of my Grand father when he and my Grand Mother towed their first Trailer to Tenn from California in 1958. Pa Ben as I referred to my granddad, was 69 years old at the time. The old Red 57 Mercury station wagon, brought back fond memories. I had forgotten he hung canvas water bags from the grill when he traveled! The 33 foot travel trailer was their main residence in Redding. He had built a cabana, so he could expand the trailer living area. I loved those days growing up in the 60s and had long forgotten the details those photos brought back! The compliment came with a note, written in Davis's 90 year old hand. It said, last year when you pulled into our yard with your truck and RV, I thought how proud Ben Gray would have been. I been looking for these photos to prove a point. You Michael, parked in the identical spot he did. Full flat acre to use and you, hit his exact mark. He said it was like history repeating itself! "He would be proud of you" , spending your retirement seeing the country in your RV.
Wow! At 55, not much gets me, but this note and photos got me, and made me remember when I got the RV bug!

Great story and thanks for sharing. Along the way every now and then things happen that make us wonder don't they. A few years ago when I moved to Versailles, MO to pursue my hand routed art work hardwood signs, just before leaving Michigan I received my copy of the Beach Family Tree. While traveling my girl friend was reading thru it. All of a sudden she said well this is something---Where was your GrandPa Beach born. I said I really don't know, I would assume Cedar Springs, MI or maybe Grand Rapids. She said, nope, Versailles, MO in Morgan County. While living there I went to the historical museum and sure enough there was some branches of my tree. Happy Trails, Steve and Susi

Really cool! I'd forgotten those days of the canvas water bags over the radiator. You also brought me a few fond memories. Thanks for sharing.

Great story. For those of us who no longer have grandparents, photos are our only remaining link. We need to be sure that we express our feelings to our kids and grandkids, just like your grandmother did with you.
