Light troubles
Hooked up today for the first time since fall, turn signal issues with the Montana (2015 3155RL) when pickup lights are off the coach turn signals work but look dim. When I turn the truck lights on I loose turn signals on the Montana, the tail lights work and are bright but no turn signals. Any ideas? I would think a bad ground would not let the turn signals work at all, but maybe I’m missing something.

Would start with cleaning and checking your 7 pin connector between the truck and rig. WD 40 works well to do that. Would also look at your ground connections.

I would suspect a bad ground in the 7 pin connector. See above^^

Thought of that ....... but I pulled my 20’ cargo trailer a 1,000 miles last week, using the same recptical on the truck, had no light issues . Could a loose ground on the tail light circuit in the Montana be the issue? I would think that the tail lights use a common ground and can’t figure out why the tail lights work but the turn signals won’t ....... and what does the pickups lights kill the turn signals when on ? Baffling!

The ground connection in your 7 pin may be bad on the trailer side. You can use a voltmeter or test light to check for a good connection through the 7 pin.

Good thought! I don’t have access to a voltmeter, we are at an RV park ....how can you check the ground connection with a test light? I don’t know how to do that.

You can check all the hot wires with the test light with it grounded back to the truck. For the ground, hook it to the trailer and if it lights with a load on it I would double check the ground into the trailer.
You can buy a low cost multimeter for $20 or less. Good tool to have with your rig.

Don't forget to spray both side of the connector with WD 40 - it may just be corrosion in the connector.

Light problem solved! Taillight wires were hooked up wrong. Stop and turn wire was hooked to the light wire and vise versa. Thank everyone for the suggestions, helped me figure it out!

Another product that works really well on corroded electrical connections is DeoxIT. Available at WM and other retailers. A little more expensive that WD-40 but does an excellent job at cleaning and protecting electrical connections. My truck service director told me about it. Among other things, they use it to clean air bag connectors which are extremely sensitive to very small amounts of resistance caused by oxidized contacts. Other uses too. I was having trouble connecting my Garmin RV 660 to my PC via the USB cable. The connection between the PC and the GPS kept dropping out. I sprayed both ends of the USB cable and the USB port on the GPS with DeoxIT and it worked perfectly after that. I didn't spray the USB port on the PC because other USB devices worked just fine in that port.
