Slide repair - sharing info.

DH learned how to adjust the slide cables at the rally. One of ours was slack, so he adjusted it. The slide had not been coming in and out very well. After adjusting the cable, it still wasn't working well, so we took it to BGM RV Repair, a facility local to us.

They determined that the slide was pulling on the wall that the cables were attached to, and when they took off the J-trim and looked inside, they found the weld had broken on the aluminum frame and the stud that the cable was attached to had come loose. The wall was actually moving as the slide went in and out.

They fixed the weld and the stud, but told us to keep an eye on the other slides as they could do the same thing. Leaving it as it was could have caused a lot more damage.

So the morals of the story are: Keystone, perhaps some better welding in the factory might be a good idea; and owners, keep an eye on your slides when putting them in and out. If things don't look right, have an RV tech look at it.

Glad you guys got the problem fixed. I've seen several of the High Country's with this problem. While at the Crossroads facility for Keystone there was a High Country in there with the same problem. They said they have fixed numerous units because of this problem. Maybe Keystone and Montana will get on the OEM company that is furnishing their slide walls and make sure they are doing the welds they way they should. In most cases the slide walls are already put together when they come to the factory and the assembly people do not even see the actual welds or wall construction and etc. Hope to see you guys at the Fall Rally next year also.

We went this year and plan on going again next year. We really enjoyed it. We put on the Alaska presentation with Daniel and Cande.

It would seam like such a simple thing to make sure a couple welds were strong and welded right but I guess not. That all it would take.

Exactly why I'm not giving up my 4 slide (all hydraulic unit). IMHO a much more robust system than the cable or schwintek systems

Same broken wall near slide problem

[QUOTE=Loneoak;1124947]Update: Keystone has agreed to reimburse us for the repair cost.[/

I just bought a used 2016 high country 305 RL and noticed the wall pulling in when the living room slide goes out. Who did you contact at Keystone to get help with this problem?
