Slide solenoids sticking

I recently started having trouble with my slides when they are extending. You take your finger off the switch but the slides keep going. Hitting the "in" side of the switch stops them.

I've disconnected the wires from both switches, one at a time, to see if I could isolate it to one of the switches. It didn't make any difference. However, during this testing I noticed that the longer I hold the "out" button (either one) down the longer the pump operates after I let go of the switch.

I'm guessing sticking solenoid/relays??? Any other ideas?/

Hi Maluka_T,

I'd go with the sticking solenoid/relay. Let us know how you make out.
By the way, welcome to the MOC.

We had same problem, there is a switch that straps on top of the pump (our 2004 model that is where it is).

Al replaced switch.

Contact MIMF here at the forum, he is our resident specialist. He can help ya out!

My 2004 Mountaineer switch is not sticking, but the relay started kicking out when the lving room slide comes in. I called a couple of Keystone dealers and they told me that there was a problem with some of the relay switches. They want me to get the relay name and model no. to see if the company will stand behind it. It is mounted on the pump with the name plate to the inside of the front storage compartment. I think this switch runs about $300.00. Something elese to play with.

Old Turbo,
Try replacing the 50A auto-reset breaker first. MIMF told me about that and it worked like a charm. Cost $4.59 and took 10 minutes. It's on the bulkhead below the pump on my 2955RL Monty. Got the breaker at a RV parts store. BTW, disconnetc the battery before replacing. Hope this fix works for you, too.

Old Turbo, you have a 2002, so you may have the same hydraulic mechanism that we have in our 2001 - a Dewald. If so, it is likely your solenoids. Ours behaved the same way and that was the problem. Bob called the 800 number on the pump and they helped dianose the problem and then explained exactly how to change them. If you do have the Dewald and need any more info, let us know.

I had to replace a solenoid on my 2000 Montana. My unit had two, only one was bad. My dealer gave me the solenoid, no problem installing, fixed the problem. Did not have any more problems with that unit before trading on a newer unit.
