Furnace vs Heat Pump

I wanted to do some work in the RV today so I went out and fired up the furnace (29 this morning). When I set the furnace for 65, both the furnace and heat pump came on. Is this correct?

Thanks

Depends on thermostat and what is set. Furnace on my unit is on zone one and set to heat setting. If your heat pump/ac unit is on zone two and zone two is set to supply heat or cooling, then both could run at same time. Better have hefty electrical connection...shore power...if running a heat pump ac unit.

Are you sure the heat pump was actually on, or was it just the A/C fan? These systems can have the fan running on the A/C if the system calls for heat and the fan setting on the thermostat is set to anything other than AUTO.

As far as I know that was you AC coming on as Keystone told me they only put heatpumps in the top of the line models. BIgSky or whatever it is. My 3160 RL was not eligible to have the heatpumps or the aluminum covered awnings even though I was more than happy to pay for them. :-(
Make sure that zone two is shut off.

You nailed it! I found that the fan was set to high. As soon as I changed the fan to auto it shut off.

Thanks
