After 42 years of marriage she........

We left the Goshen rally yesterday and headed north for a few days to explore the UP Michigan. It was a foggy and dreary day already and then after we had been on the road for about 2 hours she made the announcement. "When we stop for our break in a few minutes, I would like to drive for a while".

Yep, she had taken the Montana driving course while at the rally. She had already made several positive comments about the course and I knew it was just a matter of time.

After asking me a couple of questions and conducting a walk-around, she climbed in and pulled out of the rest area. Within 10 minutes, she had settled-in and was at cruising speed (60-62 for us) and looking like she had been towing for years. I just sat back and relaxed.

Next comes 2 lane roads and backing. I think she will master them.

Hats off to Montana's Driving school!

David, I sure hope and would be honored if it was my old Chevy she got to drive at the school. But, if not, that's OK, too. I was there while that school was going on and I can not think of one instance when those Ladies were not taking this school seriously. I am honored to have been a small part of that activity!

Good deal! Great first step.
I remember the first time Sue took the wheel pulling the Monte, we were heading into Tucumcari NM, she did super.

Way to go Sharon! Mary took the class our first year at the Rally and wanted to take a refresher course this year. She took over the wheel on the way home and I sat back and relaxed and actually fell asleep while she was making the trip home. Glad to hear Sharon asked about the driving because some of the ladies just won't do it and then there's the guys that won't let them either, so "keep on truck'n" Sharon and remember practice makes perfect! See you down the road!

Congrats, I know Patty is itching to drive, I know if I let her drive I may never be allowed behind the wheelof the truck again. No really I am happy she learned and look forward to her helping me on the road. Be Safe out there

Great to hear. I hope to get Beth talked into that driving school as well. While you're in the U.P., and if you fell up to the drive, check out the Keewenaw penninsula and Copper Harbor area. the views and colors are inconcievably beautiful right now. And check out the Jam Pot in Eagle Harbor too.

I do not "let" Helen drive. She just drives because that is the way it is.

I tried to get Louise to enroll in the class so she could drive. NOT!!!! I think she feels more comfortable telling me where to go.

For 18 years my wife has been driving a 84 passenger school bus and pulling a 18 ft 5th wheel stock trailer. So you can guess why it is my job to pull the Big Sky. She says that is her time to relax.

The Ladies Driving School is one of the signature events of the Rally and was a more relaxed event this year since folks weren't trying to get to the factory tour at the same time. Hopefully we can keep them on separate days in the coming years.

Janice took the driving course and on the way home she got behing the wheel and drove 4-lane, tree lined county paved roads and our driveway. She had promised Sandie Jackson (Mazboy) that she will also back the Monty into a camp site before next year's Fall Rally. We also took the Hand Signals Class and have started consistantly using those basic signals. Communications are much better when all fingers are pointed in the same direction.
