No More Free Dumping
Stole this from another forum:
Free dumping at Flying J is no more. To continue providing waste dump station services at Flying J, the company has instituted a $10 fee to customers using this service. The company claims that this charge has become necessary to cover the increasing costs of offering this amenity.

No surprise. Nothing is free. You do earn points to dump by buying fuel, etc. We have a free 10.00 dump ticket although we have never dumped at FJ. It is 5.00 if you have a FJ card

I have no problem with a charge for dumping my tanks at Flying J, They have to pay to get rid of all that Cra*, dont they.
99% of the time I dump at the campground I paid 50.00 or more for a nights stay.

Just read that if you have a Flying J card it's only $5. Like others, I always dump at the CG.

I dump at the campground when we've stayed at a campground. But there are so many times when we boondock where there is no dump that we welcome the Flying J dumps and the $5.00 isn't going to break me. I noticed that some Love's stations have dumps and I don't believe they cost anything...yet!

At one time the city you lived in provided water to you as part of a municipal service (if you lived in a city and did not have your own well, that is) free of charge, now we get a pretty hefty bill every month for the same service (plus some add on fees). So, it should be no surprise that getting rid of water (and other stuff) will now cost us...at some point we will probably have to come up with some money for breathing (oh, they already have a charge for that! It's called income taxes.

We never lived in a city that provided water as a municipal service and that goes back a very long time. Our water, trash and sewer here is @ 40.00 per month and most of that is the trash pickup.

Flying J will be discontinuing the rewards card at the end of September 2010. We received a letter thanking us for our business and giving us a $2 coupon, available through the card, to be used in the store.

That is not the info I received. Perhaps you use yours more than mine. My letter was very specific regarding the 9/30 end date but I will check it out. Do you have the credit card or the regular rewards card?

We're talking about different programs here. According to the Flying J website http://www.pilotflyingj.com/loyalty/...Reference.aspx
Rewards cards can no longer be swiped at the pump and won't gather points. The RV and Frequent Fueler cards Rich mentioned are different programs and will be continued. I'm not sure but they may have some changes. One that I saw for the RV card is that they can only be used at the RV pumps.

I have the RV Loyality Fueling card and it still works. I filled up in Lodi at a FJ and the card worked as usual. We only fueled. By the way the restaurants are now, in fact, Denny's! Then up near Corning, CA the FJ is now a Love's station and the card does not work. But even the Love's now has a Denny's for their restaurant.
This is all I need something else to further confuse an old befuddled CRS mind!
Travel safely folks.
Dennis
