Max Guard Protective Coating

One more question; my dealer suggests applying the Max Guard Protective Coating on my new Monty 3150RL. i thought with the new gel coating I wouldn't need something like this. The cost is almost $700. Thoughts??

Wouldn't do it!

I bit when I bought my '04 Mountaineer - Have had the surface treatment warrentied twice since then - dosen't last.

Buy good wash / surface treatment and keep it clean - better bang for your buck!

In their defence - warrenty was handled in my driveway by a very competant local portable detailer - buffed down the whole coach each time with new application - looked great for the rest of the year.

My coach sits out - no favorable treatment.

We have a 4 year old 3400 with the Gel Coat and it still looks like new. We use Protect-All twice a year. I would, however, protect the fiberglass front and rear caps. A good quality wax, not on the decals, should work well. Sounds like the dealer is trying to make a fast buck....

The dealer where I just ordered mine was also pushing the Max Guard pretty hard. We decided against it for the cost they wanted. I am going to count on the gel coat and keeping it waxed.

Save your money and just have it waxed each year by a pro...you'll be money ahead and you still will not have to do the work.

I talked to a friend who has a real expensive Motor home. He recommended the Perma shield treatment that you can buy for around $50. You order it from Perma shield out of Utah. He said it is a wipe on and buff off treatment that will last for one year no waxing. It is supposed to protect the gel coat and decals. You can find them by googling Perma Shield. Check it out.
