pair of hummingbirds

these are ruby throated hummingbirds carved from basswood. Flowers carved from basswood, stems made from copper wire, leaves from thin brass sheet material..base from oak






been a good day, a blackcapped chickadee, a yellow finch and the hummingbirds!! God giveth, and the oil man takes!! lol

Tom have you set the hummers outside near a real hummers sugar bottle and see what the real hummers would do when they saw them that you made? They look sooooo real.

Had some butterflies on the flowers, but dont think they got no nectar from those! lol
Lady bought it soon as it was finished, then 2 other ladies came by and bought a blackcapped chickadee and a yellow finch. So it has been a good day.thanks Don, Georgia and Smokey for the kind comments

Very good Tom. Here's a suggestion for a couple of projects. A South Texas White Wing Dove and a Eurasian Collared Dove, also called a Ring Neck Dove. If you need photos I can send.

thanks 1LuckyLady for the great comments, hey Charlie, I have carved a texas white wing dove 2 years ago, it went to a customer in new mexico. I dont have pictures of the Ring Neck Dove. I can look it up on computer.Charlie is this the ring neck you were talking about?

Sandy thanks, but Nancy is a slave driver, makes me stay outside and carve my lil heart out!! Ask sailer (john) he's seen it with his own lil beady eyes! hahaha,,,,just kidding! :=)

Probably all I would get fron ccarving and whitling is a cut finger. lol Guess I will settle for the real thing. We have a hummingbird feeder hanging from the ladder and I have two ladies that visit it all the time. It is fun to watch them zip in an out. Isn't nature Great. Have a Good Day.
