hitch loose
Doing a maintenance check of the torque on my hitch bolts. I found the bolts in the bed of the truck that hold the tabletop to the hitch frame were as follows:
both to the rear of the truck, both left and right, were torqued above 100 Lbs. Both sides, to the front of the truck, were torqued well below 100 lbs, and I got a couple of revolutions. I stopped before I reached 100 lbs.
Should both bolts be torqued to same tightness?

There should probably be a website for your hitch manufacturer. I would go there and look for technical help or installation instructions, if not, call them. I would think that 100# torque would not be ovwer done.

I checked my hitch OEM installation guide. It said all fastners to be torqued to 65 pounds and check annually. So I will lossen, re-
troque to 65, and re-torque again after 100 miles.
Merry Christmas to all

The torque on my hitch is different based on the diameter of the bolts.

Stiles is right again. Only the manufacturer or the manual can give you the correct torque. Bolt size has a lot to do with how much torque can be applied.
Good luck.

My 3/4 inch bolts through the side frames are to be torqued to 160 ftlb
the 3/8 bolts to 65 ftlb. That is on a 16K Reese and the custom mounting hdwr... Dave and Betsy

My Brother and I installed a Husky 16,000 5ver hitch and the specks said 125-160 ft/lbs. for the bolts on the receiver plates. We had a heck of a time reaching 125ft/lbs. I was afraid we were going to snap the bolt heads off!!

That's really high. I have a 16k Husky made by RBW, the torque is 65 ft/lbs.
