Tyler, Texas Area
Terrie and I finally are getting more information on our move to Texas. I officially start on Aug 1st and Terrie will be coming down mid-August. We are planning on staying in our Montana until Oct 1 when we move into our Townhome in Tyler. We are looking for a seasonal site that has a pool, 50 amp, open all year and on or near a good fishing lake that would be suitable for Terrie to be alone during the day without worry. I will be working in Kilgore, so it would need to be within a half hour or so of Kilgore. Once we move into the townhome, we'll keep the Monty on the site and bring the boat over on the weekends. I will be down there the next few weeks and can get over to look at a few places in the evening. Thanks in advance.

Try Whispering Pines, they are 8 miles west of Tyler. It is a good clean park with the services you are looking to find. www.whisperingpinesrvresort.com

Here is another good suggestion: Shallowcreek RV:
http://www.shallowcreek.com/
EDIT, just to add another campground: Antique Capital RV in Gladewater.
http://www.antiquecapitalrvpark.com/
These are the two closest parks to Kilgore, and either one could be a good choice. Shallowcreek is 6.7 miles from Kilgore and Antique Capital is 13.9 miles.
So you have two pretty good choices, depending upon your inspection.

Thanks, I will check those two out. I think I had stopped by Shallowcreek on a prior visit. Is there a good fishing lake nearby? I will try to get to Whispering Pines this week.

Been calling around. It sounds like it's about $4000 for a year round site. Quite a bit more expensive than the midwest. Just want a seasonal site that allows us to keep our camper plugged in and camp on the weekend. Guess we'll have to find a storage yard and just make two trips for the boat and camper. Hoped we could find a nice seasonal site where we can visit on weekends without breaking the bank. Might be cheaper to just buy some property.

Steve: You are right. We live about an hour from Tyler, but only 30 or 40 minutes from Kilgore, and only 20 minutes from Gladewater.
Rames: Lake 'o the Pines is right here by our little town, not too far from Kilgore or Gladewater. South of Tyler, a bit further away is Lake Palestine. There are many others within a reasonable driving distance, but these two are the closest.

Thanks, we'll keep lookin'. I'll be down at the plant thru Wednesday (leave in about half an hour for the airport). I have about three weeks before we bring the Tanner down for the stay. Just need to find something or else storage before October 1st when we move into the townhome.

You might check this out: http://www.lakeforkrvparks.com
Also if you play golf there are about 20 guys camping at Tyler State park from Thursday 9/22 to Sunday 9/25. You're welcome to join us.
One more thing...check out the North Texas Camping Association ( http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ntxca )...a good bunch of people that have organized campouts about once a month.
WELCOME TO TEXAS!

Just came through Tyler on Sunday, 31st of July, and the temp was 107 degrees.
I'm glad to be back on the Gulf Coast where it is only 97 degrees.
p.s., If you want to pick up another RV'ing family, check into the Texas Boomers when you get settled. The same amount of fun as the MOC family.

Tyler has had 37 days consecutively of 100 + temperatures and 50 days this Summer 100 or above. I never remember heat of such long duration in this area, also many all time high records have been set.
