Nice picture.. But some sects can use generators. The Amish that built our storage barn used a generator for the power tools.

I think they were actually buying some gas. There is a gas can in the photo and when the person seen I was going to take their picture they went behind the buggy.

The Amish who live here use Trucks, Tractors, but some here do live by the old rules. They buildt our house and all our out buildings and the RV pole barn. They also did the sewer system, and dug the line for our water and I did the water line install. But we did take pictures of almost all the work done. We also have pictures of the horse and buggy parking at the Wally World in Goshen. Wonderful people and very honest.. GBY...

The only hole I can think of in that picture, in which to put the gas nozzle, would surely create a rucus at that station!

Most all Amish are allowed to use gas engines to operate power equipment. In NY, an Amish saw mill operator used a gas engine to power his saws. Everything was operated on a system of 6" wide belts. Pull one lever would engage the 6' diameter circular saw and a second lever would engage the table to run the logs thru the saw.
He also had a gas operated generator used to operate a plainer, a lathe and a ban saw.
NONE of this equipment is allowed in the house and in no way may they use the equipment to enhance their home life. Strictly for business purposes only.

As for pictures, The Amish feel that when their likeness is put on paper you have stolen their sole and therefore they will shy away from cameras.
