Storage under Oak Trees
If I store our Montana under oak trees, will the droppings from the trees stain the Montana so bad it cannot be cleaned. Trying to decide If I should purchase a cover or possibly move my storage pad to more open area.
Thanks for your replies.

Drew, I'm not sure about oak trees but I do know pine, redwoods, and others ruined the roof of our previous 5er. Part of the problem was (we were told later) we should have cleaned the roof weekly. I'd sure hate to take a chance.
Happy trails.............................

Yes it will. Just the leaves and nuts will make a stain with water over winter that is unbelievable.

The tassels from the oak trees will stain anything, even concrete. If you have some place where you can store it without a tree over it might be easier on keeping it clean. Every year I have to fight the oaks that shed on my Tahoe.

Thanks for this post. I didn't even think about the trees staining it(I have been obsessed with the bird and bug problems). As luck would have it I have it parked about 10 feet from an Oak grove.

As others have said, yes Oak will stain. I have a Monty purchased in June this year. The leaves and rain left on it just between weekends when I could clean them off left leaf impression stains. Then I decided to clean with Dicor cleaner. I scrubbed and scrubbed and swore and swore I would get a cover. My Monty is now covered. By the way we just purchased a tarp 30' by 60' for much less than the custom made covers. Good Luck. John

Yes Oak does stain!!! We were camped under an oak tree--didn't think anything of it until it rained and we had brown streaks--especially on the front cap--a lot of McGuires and buffing took it off--used Dawn on the roof and it seemed to do a good job of cleaning that--anyway Paul says it came off. He is color blind and I don't do roofs so I can't see it. We now know not to camp under an oak tree if there is a choice--at least if it is going to rain.
