Fuel In Mexico

Info on MSN this morning about folks crossing into Mexico at San Diego to fuel up in Tijuana, Mexico where diesel is selling for $2.54 a gallon or cheaper if you pay in pesos. Anyone ever cross at Progreso or Matamoros and tried to buy fuel in Mexico? This might be a way to save some bucks when you travel down for the winter . I know the lines on the return trip could be long.
