Also the sharp curve ahead works great. We have a sharp curve by us that a lot of trucks have flipped over on and it alerted me to it in plenty of time. The distance to notification is also adjustable.

Well, sounds like the 7720 is a good unit. I've been using mine in the tow vehicle and have enjoyed it so far. I have been learning all the functions, many of which I will use. Although I don't have the Monty with me I set the unit to RV mode. It has warned me of weight limits and low clearences several times. And the speed limit changes have been spot on. I do have issue with the bright sun making the screen hard to see so I may invest in the sun shade.
So far so good. I think the RVND 7720 is a solid unit and works as intended.

Well, I've been using the 7720 all summer and I am very pleased with it. The speed limit warnings are great. The speed limit change warnings are right on. It gives advance warning of steep hills, sharp curves, speed limit changes, toll booth ahead, etc. All are controllable by the user. You can turn them on or off. When on, you can set the distance when the warning is announced. I set mine for about two miles in advance. You can also set state border crossing announcements, even choose states to avoid! So far I have enjoyed this GPS unit.
I did update the firmware recently and was not happy that it reset everything to a default setting. I had to reset my references which took about 15 minutes or so. Even still, I like this GPS very much. I do need to get the sun shade though. Direct sunlight will really wash out the screen.

I noticed this is an older thread but still a good one! We have the 7710 and I really don’t know of hardly any difference in them between the two. I will say that the “speed Warning” really works. Some friends of our told us they had to adjust the warning. I told them I didn’t speed. They were camping with us last summer and we did most of the driving when we went somewhere together. That caused a chuckle every time it got me so I eventually had to raise the warning settings. Now with all that said I do like having the warning it’s amazing how many little speed zones (speed traps) will pop up from time to time. Very nice GPS overall and we really enjoy it.

Thanks Slufoot for the update, we have the Garmin 465T and wish it were a bit more RV related verses Truck. For example we must accept a warning that trucks are not allowed, but we know that RVs are ok to proceed (we think).

We were using our 465T before going to the 7720. Not only are the speed warnings a nice feature, but the campground listing is a good feature(commercial, military, Corps of Engineer campgrounds to name a few. You can send traffic changes such as changed highway speeds and other information so they can update changes. You can also put in information about your rig as you do with the 465T. We are well pleased with the 7720.

Bigmurf, it does have Real Time Traffic but I have not gotten into it. This is from the Users manual:
Traffic
Note: Real-time traffic is available as an optional service. To use this feature, you must purchase a Rand McNally Real-Time Traffic Receiver. (Visit www.randmcnally.com/gps-accessories.) The receiver also comes with a lifetime traffic subscription.
With the real-time traffic service, you’ll receive notification of traffic conditions and events. You can choose to ignore the warning or to recalculate a route avoiding the problem.

I have had mine close to a year. It has me spoiled. I really like the speed and curve warnings. When I set current location it has always brought me back. I mounted it under the radio in the disc holder slot

After using ours for several months I am convinced that this is the best GPS that we have ever owned! I like the big screen. I have a large flat area on top of the dash so the mounting does not really block the front view.

Does anyone know if the Good Sam RVND 7725-LM on sale at Camping World is the same as the 7720?

Thanks, Steve. We are thinking about getting one, too. Was also wondering about how useful a tablet would be for a GPS application.

A tablet or a notebook for that matter will work, but you'll need to get a GPS unit for it, an interface for the GPS is it doesn't come with one, and mapping software - again if the GPS doesn't come with it. I'm not sure if any of those software packages would be RV compliant though, such as warning about tight turns or low bridges.

The current CW GS 7725 price on sale is $329. I am not totally sure but the difference between GS 7725 and the generic 7720 maybe the campground listings offered by GoodSam. I am not sure on this point but with some certainty...so 7720 vs 7725 pricing is about $60 for directory?? fyi.

Thanks Chief, for mentioning Amazon. Ordered one today. We have a Tom Tom now and you never know if it will take you down a toll road or a gravel road.

We've have the 7710 model for about a year. I bought a beanbag holder from Amazon for ours since it is illegal in some states to have it attached to the windshield. It works much easier for the co-pilot to program from their seat than stretching across. We bought the little sun visor but it seems to get in the way if you move it. At the Escapade in Gillette last summer one of the seminars was on how to use it and all the things it was capable of doing.
