Newburgh NY KOA
Although there is not much else around this close to NYC, this KOA is one of the worst I have been in. Max water pressure at spigot is 40psi and usually 20. I have spoken to mgt and they say there must be something wrong with my trailer, yeah right. I have had to fill my fresh water tank and use onboard water pump to have enough water pressure to actually use it. Sites are adequate, however, interior roads are very narrow and must do a sharp U turn to get out. Kids galore, while I don't mind the kids, they ride these pedal 4 wheelers like crazy and you must dodge them every now and then. On the bright side, they do offer a guided tour of NYC ($99.00 each). It lasts about 12 hours (at least three hours driving time) and includes Empire state building fees, Statue of Liberty ferry ride and entrance to Ellis Island. They also offer a dog walking service for $5.00 a walk which has been well worth the cost for us. All shaded sites means no sat TV. They have the lousiest cable service I have seen. About eight channels that come in very bad. We are moving to a Yogi Bear park about 7 miles north today to spend another week in the NYC area. Hopefully we will have better luck there.....Still many kids though, when does school start???????

Phil,
The Jellystone/Yogi park is nice. Spacious sites and rural setting. Lynn and I stayed there after the NE Rally.

Phil,
The North East schools typically start after Labor Day. Not like the South, here, where it is the last week of August. Watch out for those 4 wheelers.

Darn, we always stay at that KOA each time we are through and enjoy it every much, never have had any problems as you described there. We found the sites easy to get in to and out of and everything fairly private.

Chris, We moved to Jellystone today, much nicer park. We have found these parks to be fairly nice. I think this is the third one we have been in.
Noneck, we drove thru your town yesterday on our way to the FDR home.....Nice area!!!!!!
JimF, Don't know what to say, but I really don't like paying that much and having to fill my fresh water tank and use my on board pump to take a shower and really rotten TV. The maint tech said they have 4 water systems throughout the park so maybe we were just on the wrong system. We were in site 128....My BIL was two rows over and was having the same problems, so was his neighbor, my neighbors, on both sides, had the same problems.

A hidden gem in the NYC area is Croton Point Park in Croton-on-hudson, NY. Its on a small island that juts out into the hudson river, about 8 miles north of the Tappenzee bridge. Large sites, full hookups, very quiet. We would wake up in the morning to see deer roaming among the campsites. They have raised their rates in the past year to $50. per night. But if your looking to be near NYC, this is the perfect place. Its right near the train station in Croton also, so you don't need to drive into the city.
