members map???? Is that thing still around?? I haven't seen that map in well over a year if not longer. As I recall your location was added automatically when you first registered. It was an experiment that I figured went sour and was discontinued. I guess I just forgot all about it. Maybe one of the Admins will jump in and bring us up to date.

I have not seen that map either but I wonder if you are wondering where to get the Map that others are showing where they have been, if so go here and create your map.http://www.epgsoft.com/VisitedStatesMap/.
then go to http://www.tinypic.com/ and upload your map. Then copy the one that says [img] Then go into your profile and add it to your signature. Don't know if this what you wanted but hope it helps.

I think he was referring to the map that shows the last 100 members who were on and posted something.

I have the same question. I'm on site often, but have yet to see my member info listed on the map.

I remember that map... It was a "Google map" that the Admins made up. I thought it was pretty cool.

OK, It does still exist and I found it.

Near the bottom of All forums you will find a Member Map link

or just Click Here

BUT, it doesn't appear to be working correctly. I tried to bring up various individual states and nothing happened.
If you click on a Ballon it will give you the User ID, State and Avatar for that individual but it doesn't appear to be showing the last 100 poster IDs.

Glenn and Lorraine, that is the map, but I don't see myself there and was wondering how to get on it. I use several locater maps on here and was hoping to get on this one also. I use the datastorm users group map so friends can follow my progress around the country, I also use the Frappr map http://www.frappr.com/ Dave and Betsy

Dave, I think that map uses the city and state in your profile and won't show where you are when traveling. That sure would be nice to have one that would, though.

A members map would be wonderful. Wouldn't it be nice to see where fellow MOC'ers are located at any time. It would also be nice to know if that Montana sitting next to you is a MOC member! This would be a great buddy system for traveling.

Bingo, just got rid of the bug, now my forehead hurts!

Yes, the map is interesting, and would be fun if it functioned as it was designed to function. Parts of it DO work, and are pretty cool.

I bet someone who had the time, could figure out how to create one of those Frappr maps where people could post their current location by posting a GPS lat & long.

hmmm

The Datastorm Users group has about the best one I have seen online. Besides the plotting option it has the option to have an email sent to friends and family everytime you change positions so they can track you, and it will notify you if another plotter locates within 25 miles of your position. Very nice map. I will post the URL here so you can check it out. http://www.datastormusers.com/mylocation.cfm Dave and Betsy

I would also like to see a list of members by city and state--I often wonder how many MOC'ers live near me so that maybe we could have a local gathering at times--

Dave, I haven't figured it out either, but I sure would like to know how to show our location on the map. Others have said that it has never worked, it was just an experiment.

If you find out, please let us know.

The mapping program uses your Profile data (city and state) for plotting.
Some members use that information for displaying their home of record and others use it for more current location. Of coures others use it as a fill only like their birthdate.
As with any database it is only as good and accurate as the information, which is controlled by the members.

Because it is member controlled and they use it for different information the listing of cities might not be useful.

Thanks for caring and asking.
