recessed lights

Has any body replaced all the lights in their rig with those round Recessed lighting LED OR Halogen??, I have a new rig but it seems like the standard white double side by side lights under the cabinets are so dated they have been using them since the 70's I think thought it would be a classy touch THOUGHTS????, I was looking above me and there are 2 of them but thats it

Halogen lights generate ALOT of heat. I would go with LED's.

Ours came with the recessed can lights. And, we added additional ones after going all LED. The cans are pricey unless you get them from the big guy at the fall rally factory tour!

if you have 4" recessed can lights,they are making a led adapter that screws into the socket and then snaps into the can. Look in lowes or H depot. we just used them in our kitchen at home,nice light,no heat

Thanx gang, will go LED we gotta loose the old school look of the standard side by side lights will go with the cans and do it little by little as they are expensive and then my wife wants fancy back spalsh tiles behind the stove like our friends new SOB, gotta keep up with the Jones's ya know we will also be going all LED every where so get ready for some orders Michael and Kat

I didn't think that there would be enough of room in the ceiling for recessed light fixtures, and I have yet to see one for 12 volts. What am I missing? I have small ones that are in the ceiling of my living room slides. Is this what everyone is referring to?

Ours are all 12 volt. We replaced the 10 watt, hot halogens with 22 watt G4 LEDs. Even added additional cans - there is plenty of room.

We added 18 additional lights. We could not have done so, safely with our original 10 watt halogen bulbs because the 14 gauge wiring is rated for just above 15 amps at 12 volts. We went from 10 watt bulbs to over 20 watt LEDs and added additional lights while decreasing the overall load. We have replaced most of our 15 amp fuses with 5 amp fuses.

Because Kat's eyesight is deteriorating, we went on this LED journey. She just needs more light to see things. It is what it is...

Thanks Michael. That is the type fixture I have in the slides. I was thinking originally of the much larger type.
Will the wedge type LED replacement you sell work in those recessed fixtures? I seem to remember when I got mine from you the recessed fixtures took the pin type.
I'm still not sure there is enough of room under the cabinets for the recessed fixtures.

There is enough room, but to set your mind at ease, remove one of the pancake fixtures and put a tape in the about inch round hole.

Yes, they take the bi-pin type LEDs.

The 4" pucks need about an inch and 5/8'ths depth and take the G4 15 LED. The smaller, 3" pucks need an inch and a quarter depth and take the G4 12 LED.

Michael,where did you buy the 4in pucks pictured??? the ones I saw you need 2 inch's + deep clearence which would be fine for the ceiling you're saying but under the cabinets there is only about 1 inch or so in there so I starting looking at Marine LED recessed and saw a few options because I also need a switch ON them for off amd on because they are not controlled by a switch on the wall ...still researching ,I gotta do something because MAN! those bulbs are hot and I have been seeing burn marks on the connectors when I replace them as far as the outside lights go I will be ordering a few from ya when I see which one's they take

The smaller ones go under the cabinets. Here is another thought for the switch - place one adjacent to the lights, also in the cabinet. Maybe a push button type like on the sconce lights.

I got mine from Keystone when at the rally.

I just found some good under cabinet "4 LED recessed lights WITH a On and OFF switch for $19.99 ea at WWW.westmarine.com ,they look pretty nice and have a good selection and also "5in too
