Webber Q Grill not hot? Answer here
If you have a weber Q grill and the flame isn't hot here is the answer if you are connecting it directly to the propane tank.

That was a good article Mazboy I read it and found it very informative.
That was my first question I asked Weber when I bought my Q, because it states that in the instructions to use the disposable cylinders.
I have a 1.5 tank, that was what I bought years ago for my propane BBQ's, The tank will do exactly what the article states, Weber told me that if I turn on the tank valve 5 min. before I use the Q it gives the hose to the Q time to equalize, and will help end this problem (sometimes I have noticed) I guess a person could get the refill attachment from Harbor freight and refill the old used bottles which I do sometimes, with all of the recycle programs that are out there, a person would think Weber would think up a different way to supply the Q with fuel, and not fill up the dumps with empty propane canisters.
Thanks for your article I have saved it for future reference.

I removed my regulator from my Weber and had a quick connect hose made up and attached it to my Weber. Now all that I do is hook the Weber to the quick connect on the trailer. Works great and never have a lighting or heat problem.

I use a 30lb to connect to my Q. Open valve and wait 10 minutes to light...no problems.

I have had a Weber Q for 5 years and have always run it off a 10# cylinder and have never had a problem with either lighting it or it getting hot and continuing to burn. I have made no modifications to it and after each use I turn the bottle off after turning the burner off and turn it on again just prior to lighting. Don't understand why others are having problems.
Guess I got lucky for once....

The simple answer is just like on our rigs. Open the valve slowly and wait a couple of minutes before using.

I guess I'm lucky as well ... I have a Baby Q and a Q 200. I connect to my #30 bottle via a 12' hose on my fiver or use the disposable canisters without issue. I always open the 30# bottle very slowly just as I do when I use it regularly on my fiver due to the OPD valves being really sensitive. I just give them a little time to heat up the cast iron before grilling as it's altogether different than just a steel grate. Some people try hooking their Webers up to the quick disconnect option on some of todays fivers with sad results. The quick disconnects are usually on the end of an already regulated line so it messes with the regulator already on the Weber grill. Thanks for the article ... my luck may turn at some point.

That's why you have to remove the regulator off of the Weber as I said in my earlier post.

Lenny ... got your drift ... I was just sharing the double regulated line story that's happen to others. I prefer not to remove the regulator on my Weber as I'm seldom in a scenerio where I'm feeding from a regulated propane source read I don't have a quick disconnect).
