Coming Attraction...MCD shades

Dropping the trailer off at the MCD factory this Sunday to have all the "string shades" replaced by MCD's excellent Gold series on all the windows. Can't wait.

Keep us informed. Several of us have been considering that option.

We are thinking seriously about installing faux wood or wood blinds in the bedroom in the very near future. The day/night shade material that is used now is way to flimsy and light for late morning sleepers. I don't know if real wood would work because of the weight. That rear window in a front living room takes a large blind. I measured it at 75 inches wide by about 53 inches high to get good coverage.

Bingo,
For that big window, wooden blinds, IMHO, will not work. We are thinking about the outside carefree pull down awning. Check that out. We have the wooden blinds in our current model bedroom and then work great, but it is a small window. The MCDs need to become a standard option.

the day night shares on the 2013 3402 Big sky are really day ,day shades. Helen using her trusty brand new sewing machine made curtains for the windows.

My DW used her sewing skills to make black out curtains. Nothing fancy. Just panels of double thick dark fabric with a loop sewn in along the top. We slide the top up through the valence and run a 1/4 inch dowel through the loop and lower it onto the top of the valence. The fabric is taller and wider than the window to provide full black out. During the night we put the cushion in the vent over the bed to fully darken the room. Without the cushion during the day, there is enough light from the vent. We leave the window panels in place and only remove them to clean the windows inside.

I ordered pull down, outside shades for all my big windows from Ozz. Makes rig cooler, gives more privacy, you can see out but not in

Joyce is also going to make blackout curtains, but it's been postponed by a mural project that came up here where we work.

Yes, I would like to hear how things worked out. I plan to add their Duo shades to the bedroom next month.

Since I wanted the bedroom dark, I cut reflectix to fit the the two windows on the side of the bed slide and over the emergency escape window at the foot of the bed slide. I just pull the day/night shades down and leave them there. With the second a/c covering the overhead vent, it's plenty dark in there. It's great for afternoon naps.

Well...since you asked...they are truly great. Two fingers to pull the largest one down and same two fingers to release and watch them float to the top. Excellent quality and the installation was perfect (since MCD did it...I only live 16 miles away) without any problems whatsoever. There are two windows in our bedroom and once you cover the ceiling vent and shower skylight, just pull down the two window shades and it is d-a-r-k in there. The day time shades are very easy to see out of but make the windows look black from the outside. Excellent addition to the trailer, highly recommend them.

Can or would you share the cost of the complete job?

Thanks for the information. I spent some time on the phone with one of there customer reps yesterday. She was very helpful in pointing out the differences between the American Duo and Gold series. Now that I've seen your review I'll be ordering several to install myself.
Thanks

Yes, the new Big Sky at Lazy Days has the MCD shades in it, and everyone is installed backwards. MCD emblem facing the outside, and the day shade on the inside of the coach with the night shade against the glass.

I guess the installer got them backwards, on every window.....

I believe the dark shade goes closer to the glass and the light on the inside.
