2013 Dodge 3500 Ordered

Just ordered the first Dodge of my life. 3500 Ram SRW, Longhorn, Mega Cab with Aisin transmission. 75 days for delivery. Thinking about the aluminum roll top tonneau cover like Al Stevens has on his. Also, will be looking at possibly a new slider hitch.

Good for you! Enjoy the new truck. What were the deciding reasons for your purchase? In a few years we will be looking for a new truck and am always curious as to what others are purchasing and why.

Congrats on the new truck. Know you will love it, I have had 2 Dodges with the mighty Cummins engine and think they are the best.

Congrats, you're going to love that Mega Cab, it's absolutely huge. We had an 07 model and it was a great truck but in the end we missed the allison trans and of course the long box for the extra carrying capacity for bikes/aux. tank. Lookin forward to your review of the Aisin.

Congrats on the new truck. You'll love the mega cab. Amazing amount of carrying capacity and a limo if you want to take another couple with you.

Congratulations on your new truck. This is our 2nd Dodge and love it. Let us know what you think about the Allison Transmission. Seems like you have the best of both worlds now. Cummins and the Allison!

So sorry for the confusion about the "transmission", my apologies! Just goes to show that I need to wear my reading glasses and/or a stronger prescription! I can delete the post if it would help with the confusion that I caused. If you would like it deleted, let me know.

If referring to the BAK Rollback bedcover, we really like ours.

Bobcat, I have loved both of my Silverados. However, the interior styling has not kept up. I agree with others that the Allison transmission was what was keeping me with the GM. Now, Dodge has the Aisin transmission in their retooled 2013. Al Stevens sold me on the interior with his new Dodge. My truck is used for three things - towing the Monty, hunting and general truck work. For example, our new home in the mountains requires me to haul trash to the dumpster. Hunting in the snow is tough with dually's, so I went SRW. Also, our drive is very steep. While hunting with the dog crate in the back, the Mega cab also gives room for gear behind the rear seat. I also liked Al's Retrax Pro tonneau cover. One of the things I didn't like on hunting trips was leaving hunting gear and guns unlocked in the bed. with the locking tailgate and tonneau, I have a little more peace of mind. Looking forward to seeing it in person. This is the first 2013 that the dealership has ordered. They are only allocated (4). Also, the new GPS is Garmin based. Add to that the 30k towing capacity and I will never be questioned about towing capacity.

The Dodge is going to have an "Aisin" tranny option, Japanese company, not an "Allison" tranny.

I thought the 30K towing was for the dually with 4:10 rear end only.

Also, just wondering, what did yours sticker for? Have they released the pricing or are they still taking orders with pricing to be determined?

I was confused with the Aisin and allison comments, i like alittle about each company and have owned Ford Dodge and Chev/Gmc,

Congrats on the new Dodge purchase loved my 2002 Dodge with the cummins except the noise now they have lowerd that,

A friend bought a new srw 4x4 dodge with the stick shift cummins powerd he took me for a spin pulls nice evan when he purposely grabbed higher gears at slow speeds. My next purchase will be based on bottom line price.
And so far the Ford dealer has won. It seems all manufacures have nice torq gas engines,
Now days for about $6,000 to 8,000 less then diesel.
And i think at about 200,000 miles or 6 years i would like to trade in what i have not sure if diesel is the way to go for me unless it helps at trade in time. I drive big trucks and it adverages 7.5 miles per gal and i can weigh up to 73,000 lbs.
I scratch my head when my 02 Dodge had about 19 per gal diesel never pulled a rv with the Dodge so i cant say what the mpg would be,
And my 08 ford V10 gas gets 12 hwy and about 7 to 8 mpg pulling the fiver.

The SRW is only 28k capacity. All of the specs aren't out yet, no brochures available (even on-line) and even the dealership is having to figure things out. I can never recall a new vehicle being introduced in the actual year except the 64 1/2 Mustang. The new 2013 is a whole new truck for Dodge. New frame, suspension, lighting package, transmission options, front end - all geared toward becoming the highest capacity HD truck. The Aisin transmission is a widely used truck transmission and is entirely different from the Allison. It is a big upgrade that made the switch more palatable moving from an Allison, which I loved. When I worked for BorgWarner, we made parts for both - Aisin through our NSKWarner joint venture. No one argues with the Cummins as a great engine. The interior isn't much good if you don't go down the road. So, Cummins, Aisin, frame/suspension upgrades, Mega cab, LED lighting, interior styling, and Garmin GPS in dash all combined to make this one nice ride - once it's built. Tough being an early adopter on a redesign, but I'll take the risk this time. 75 days for delivery - hoping that shrinks. We are moving out of our condo the week before Easter. Would sure like the new truck for the ride.

Ron,
I think you made a great choice. I wasn't sure if the Aisen tranny would be offered in the SRW, looks like it is. Does yours have the highest hp/tq think it was 375/8xx? What rear end gear ratio 3.42/3.73/4.10?

I believe it's the 3:73. Yes, highest Torque/HP - no brochures or documentation to tell me the specs.
