Anything I Shouldn't Use?

Is there any cleaners I SHOULDN'T use when cleaning the Monty bathroom shower and toilet?
Like, would anything harm the pipes or the tanks?

My memory isn't the best, but think owners manual says to avoid citrus based cleaners. Over time it will cause yellowing. I use a all-purpose liquid from dollar store, or WM brand spray bathroom cleaner.

Since the shower stall is fiberglass you don't want to use anything that is abrasive. I've never heard of anything that damages pipes or tanks.
Happy trails...............

I know I shouldn't but...I use scrubbing bubbles and shower to shower. It is so much easier to spray and walk away. It beats scrubbing the shower every 6 months. I hate cleaning.

Scrubbing bubbles isn't abrasive so I don't know why you can't use it. Abrasive would be like Comet or Ajax powder cleansers. There are a lot of products like SB that were made because of the fiberglass shower, sinks and counters. If you find out something, let us know.

OK this officially verifies I have no business cleaning. I thought scrubbing bubbles would hurt damage glossy finishes. I guess since I have no idea what cleaners are good and bad I should stop cleaning all together...well it sounds good to me anyway.

Now wait a minute - you don't get off that easy. LOL Where did you get the idea SB hurts glossy finish. I've never heard that.

I have one of those scrubbing bubbles things that hangs from the showerhead and when you are done you just push the button get out of the way, close the door and in 15 seconds it sprays stuff 360 degrees. It runs down the walls and the glass to the floor. You never even have to wipe down the shower. About once a year you just give the shower a wipe up and its done. I love it. Got it at Wally world and the refills are only $3.

You might want to check out Consumer Reports. They review that item and the best results they got was 85% coverage. Their conclusion was it needed more development and it you wanted your show clean the the "old way" was still best.

Mike, if it gets 85% that means I only have to do 15%. I'll take it.

Okay, so stuff like Lysol Toilet Bowl Cleaner would be alright?
I like to use Bon Ami on the fiberglass.

Let's see...when was the last time I cleaned a shower...I have never had a first time, I guess I am not qualified to speak on this. I assume we are not talking about the outside shower:>)

Okay, here's the straight scoop from the owner's manual for the toilet (you all should have one):

Use:
- Sealand Toilet Bowl Cleaner (naturally!)
- most non abrasive bathroom and toilet bowl cleaners (Bar Keepers Friend spray, Clorox Toilet Bowl Cleaner, SaniFlush Toilet Bowl Cleaner, etc

Do not use:
- abrasives (Comet, Soft Scrub, etc)
- caustic chems (Drano, etc)
- lubes and cleaners containing alchols or petroleum distillates (Pam, Pine Sol, WD 40, etc)

Don't ask what the "etc" means, that's the way the manual is written.

CAT320 Thanks for the scoop. Guess I could have looked it up myself, but I'm just lazy at heart! I have all the manuals in one of the chair seats. Out of sight - out of mind. Plan on doing a major clean this weekend. We'll see what happens, Dano said something earlier about taking her out somewhere. Thanks again.
