awning hitting slide out

I have a 2005 36fl with the dinette slide on the awning side. My problem is my awning rests on the top of the slide unless I have almost no pitch. I also have to retract the slide to roll the awning back up. This is a pain because I'm a seasonal camper. I noticed that Montana has changed the slides to the opposite side of the trailer. Anyone else have the dinette slide and awning on the same side?

Thanks
Joeb13

I had the same problem with my 3655fl. Bad design, because you have to get the awning set up almost straight out before opening the dinnete slide. What I do is use a small beach ball on top of the dinnete slide out and it holds the awning off the top of the slide out. Before I started using the beach ball the awning would hold the rain water because it was raised till it was almost straight out. Now with the beach ball there is a hump and the water rolls right off the awning.

we have the 03 3655fl and the same problem so I rarely use the awning. I did notice in keystones lit. that they moved the slides to the opposite sides on the 04 models to fix the problem. I do love the front living room, we can get some great views being up higher like that

That is why we bought a 3295 and not the 3655, if they would have made the 3685 a yaer earlier that is what I would have purchased, It looked like your could tear up a couple of awnings if you used it very much.

Also 3655FL owners, and share the problem. I like the beach ball idea, and probably will adopt it. Right now, we put a couple of 2-3 ft long pieces of the foam "noodles" (kids swimming pool help) at each end of the dining area slide. Just cut to desierd length and cut a slit to install over the top edge of the slide. Still have to retract the slide to either extend or stow the awning, but it prevents wear when the awning is exgtended.

Sort of like the barn door behind the horse, but, Keystone, how come that wasn't noticed by the engineers, and please don't let that "user unfriendly" stuff creep into new designs.

Thanks
