Slide out trays?

Considering??? installing a tray in the lower area. Mount a pellet grill on the slide out tray. Maybe a 20"x90". Slide both ways.

Questions are mounting to the floor. Anyone know how thick the wood is on the floor of the storage compartment.

Thoughts?? Thanks Jim

I installed on our 2010 and removed/ reinstalled on our 2015. If I remember correctly 5/8 of an inch.

I would think the 5/8 thickness is pretty accurate. I used two inch screws to attach 2 x 4's to the basement floor since I needed the clearance for the slides to clear the bottom of the basement door frames. They will need elevated for clearance. If you are looking at the MorRyde trays (we recommend for the quality), trust me the weight of the tray with a little bite in the basement floor is all that you will need, I did post photos of the installation which should be readily available using the forum search function, if you cannot find it and are interested, post a reply and I will find the post and provide a link.

5/8's makes sense with the things I've screwed to the floor and the screws and washers I've used.

Bingo,

Found the link. Good idea on only securing to floor outside of frame. I may use bolts that go all the way thru the floor on the 2x4 material and then screws into the 2x4 on the slide frame. I see the frame has square holes, so a carriage bolt thru the frame/2x4 and floor material?

Still in the thinking about it mode.

Can the drawer part be removed from the frame part to aid in the weight during the installation?

Thanks Jim.

Jim,
Keep in mind that if you want to bolt through the basement floor, you will have to drop the underbelly and if you go that route, I would think you would want the nuts on top in the event they ever needed tightening? Not sure if the tray comes off. I picked mine up at the trucking distribution center in my pickup and was able to slide it directly from the pickup bed to the basement. Your installation can be as you want, but again, with the weight of the unit and the allowable 800 pound load, it does not take much to hold it in place.

I used anchor bolts installed from the top, which was what was provided with the kit. Was not necessary for me to elevate on either rig, so anchor bolted directly to the floor. Did have to get additional anchor bolts for the second install.

I looked at mine again today. From the drop frame area outboard there is only a board going out. The sheet metal from lower wrap goes inward to the frame.

I can either, drill thru the floor and then use a hole saw to make a small hole in the metal wrap to get to the nuts/washers on the end of the carriage bolts, or install toggle bolts thru the floor and not make a hole in the wrap. Either way should be more secure than wood screws.

Thanks for all the thoughts.

Jim
