Convenience Center re-plumb

I know others have modified their water hookups, outside showers, and other things in their convenience center. It seems like I am always struggling to connect the black sewer flush, then pushing stuff out of the way to pull handles....just not a good clean set up. Got my tub of 1/2" plastic PVC fittings/pipe out yesterday and went to work. Rerouted the water intake over to the side of the convenience area so it would not interfere with pull handles for tanks. Additional "T" and shutoff in line for going directly to black tank flush. Putting finishing touches on it today if I have time.

Same problem in the 3800...a pain to pull black dump valve. Still thinking about the way I want to tackle the issue. I have already had to add some pex fittings into the rinse line since the factory ran it in such a manner as to yank the black tank rinse port fitting to a severe side angle...which meant i also had the pain in the butt when i went to hook up the hose to the fitting and trying to tighten it. Sure nice to hear that someone else got fed up and is redoing things in the center. John

Just finished. Haven't found the right little jumper hose to go from in-line shutoff to black flush so I just attached a piece of white 4' hose for now. But it still accomplished what I needed. I haven't figured out how to post photos with a new computer I have now. I will send PM to Captjoe and Packerfan so maybe one of them will post for me.

Is there a back flow preventer in the black tank flush? I've been thinking about the same mod using pex tubing.

I think I have read on the MOC that there is a back flow preventer because they have failed. When I dumped my black today and flushed I couldn't get a good seal on the inlet where my short white hose enters the back flush inlet. The original blue coil-hose seals good so I am not sure the difference since the male end looks about the same.

For all the same reasons I was thinking of this mod too. I use inboard water to flush with a small 2 foot hose. During the first flush in the 3610 water we everywhere so I was going to take in for warranty fix. But reading this post ( timely) got me thinking. What about putting a T off a fresh water line , get a valve like the lave they use for filling the FW tank and the attach it to the black water flush line. Then when you want to flush turn the pump on and turn the valve.

Any thoughts? Seems like it would work and make flushing easier. Plus it would almost eliminate overfilling the black tank for those of us that have shorter attention spans

The back flow preventer valve on the 3725RL is located under the bathroom sink. I have been thinking about removing it so I won't have to worry about it failing.

I made a 50 amp transfer switch and put it at the bottom of my convince center. Flip it foward for the 50 amp receptacle that I installed on the front of my camper and towards the rear for the factory installed one. I use the front receptacle for my generator with a 10 foot cord while I'm traveling. I used 2 50 amp Square D breakers mounted them on a piece of fiberglass board with a handle to tie them together so one will be off while the other is on. Havering them both on together could be shocking experience.

That is probably a good idea Scott. I hadn't checked on where it was located so now I know. I would rather have a back flow preventer in my little homemade plumbing contraption in the convenience center so I can see if it fails and it won't flood the inside of the trailer. Guess I will be adding on to the add-on.

this was my solution to the convience system. Yes there are back flow prevents on each one.
Since this one was pvc and took up too much room I have since made one from 1/2 inch copper. Much neater and smaller too, and quality brass valves is better.
In this picture:
The top T is only for support which sets in closet rod holders.
The second one is for the house inlet with pressure reducer built in.
Next one is the black tank flusher using full pressure of camp water system.
The bottom valve is for my sewer solution system, again full pressure.
At the very bottom is the one hose connection with quick disconnect.
Again I mention each connection has a back flow device installed.
This manifold system makes for a easy one hose connection and works for me.
As many have mentioned, when flushing the black tank DO NOT walk away to do any other task.

Lynwood-- Any photos of your mod with the 50 amp transfer switch? I'd like to do that myself for any possible future boondocking!

Rondo I don't do pictures. It almost requires a machine shop to make one. There are several parts that must be machined accurately for it to work. The main part is about 3X6 inches. It works better than any store bought one I was able to find. If you won't one PM me and I will make you one in my spare time at no charge.
Lynwood.

Chet-- Do you winterize your unit or head South for the winter? If you winterize how do you do it with your manifold system?

Thank you jnc. The 1/2 copper looks better, but no pictures at this time.

Rondo. Both... went south Jan and Feb. To winterize I use air directly on the hose bib inlet to blow h2O out of water lines. I use winter windshield washer solution in drains.
