Lippert Pin Box

It is a long and complicated story, but the bottom line is that Lippert mislabeled my pin box at the factory. The sticker says it is a 1621, but it is actually a 1116. I guess I'm better off, the weights are 15,500/19,000 respectively for the 1621/1116.

If anybody is going to get an air pinbox, or change pinboxes, this is worth checking out to be sure you get the correct replacement.

Welcome to the club of misslabled pin boxes. I found that out when I went to install my 5th airborne pin box. Had to take it back and get another one. The dealer then checked his new trailers and found several to be misslabled. This is something everyone should double check when replacing a pin box.

How can you tell if it is miss-labled or not? Do you have to take it back to the dealer for them to identify it or ?

I called Lippert and they said to check the width of the pin box. It is either 12 inches or 12 1/2 inches. My 1116 is 12 1/2 inches so maybe the other one is 12 inches. Hope this helps.

Mislabeling parts falls into the category of very poor quality control.

If your thinking about replacing the pin box with a 5th Airborne your best bet is to either call or go online with the measurements on your trailer and have them determine what your present pin box is.
