running with refrigerator on

A Newbie question again. Am I safe to assume that once we're loaded up and ready to leave for a destination that we can runn the fridge while traveling? Is it running in the electric mode off of the truck and battery or the propane?

It runs off your propane and battery.

You are safe as far as usage goes. You should remember that when it is on Propane there is an Open Flame near the outside vent. That means any time you are refueling you should turn it off for safety.

We do not run with the frig on. We've never had a problem with food spoilage or thawing. Propane is turned off also.

It all depends on how far you travel each day. If we do 6 hrs or less we do not run with the fridge on and it is still cold when we stop. It all depends what you are comfortable with.

Thanks for the replies!
As I understand it , it will take several hours for the fridge to actually cool down. We have a double fridge in our unit. Does it help to put freeze packs in the unit to accelerate to cooling process? Or ice in the freezer compartments ? Do the double fridges take longer to cool?

If you have access to shore power, just plug it in a couple of days before you leave and it will be cold by the time you leave. If not just turn it on propane for a day or two. We always travel with our fridge on.

Superdave,
We have the smaller, single door fridge, but yes, putting frozen "freeze packs" in the fridge will help the in cooling your refrigerator quicker. I don't think you need to put anything in the freezer compartment because it actually cools pretty quickly (at least it does on ours). As for it taking longer because it is a double, I can only assume Bigger Volume = Longer Cool Time.

For the old timers...
Ring ring,
Hello, is your refrigerators running?
Better catch it before it gets away.
