Need a little help ... UPDATE
Can anyone tell me the name of the sticky stuff sold at Camping World that comes rolled up in a coil, it's kind of putty-like and it's kinda, sorta brownish-black? I REALLY need to get some, but it's really hard to search for something when you don't know the name and there's something like 2400 items online!
Appreciate any help anyone can give me!
7/18/09 ... Forgot to update this ... After trying one or two addition types of "sticky-stuff," we tried Helen's suggestion that she got from Betty and it worked. Steve used some industrial strength velcro that we had on hand, we left it on overnight then attached the magnet board ... VOILA! Did the trick. It's been up 2-3 weeks with no signs of drooping.

Only thing I can think of would be "bishops tape". I searched Camping World, but they don't show to have it. It is black, with a paper between the coils.

As in Countryfolks link try Butyl tape. I have a roll and anytime I pull a vent or anything else on the side of the rig that needs to be weather proofed I use that when I reinstall it. The tape I have is cream colored... Dave

Thanks for the suggestions, but those don't ring any bells. We used it to mount a framed magnet board on the side of refrigerator. So we need something that will hold the weight of the board and all the magnets. The other 2 boards are holding great, but apparently the heat and the bouncing was a bit too much for this one.

We have something used for the application you indicated, but it is not packaged in a roll. Rather it comes in a 4" x 6" sheet. It is called "Quake Secure". We call it earthquake putty and put it under things that set in our curio cabinet.

See if sticky putty is it. 3m makes something along those lines. Mary says she got some at WM around the office supply section.

Are you talking about double sided mounting tape?

Grandpachet, John, The sticky putty is similar to little pieces of clay, it's re-usable putty that's used to hang light weight stuff.

It's better that you mentioned the application you wanted to have a product for, rather than a description of the product itself.
It seems like you are looking for a "non-permanent" adhesive for a magnet board on the fridge. Several products mentioned above might satisfy your need - sticky putty, quake secure, double-sided tape or even hook & loop with adhesive (aka Velcro) fasteners. Just make sure you are generous with it especially if you leave it up while the RV bounces down the road.
Many of these types of sticky fasteners are found at Lowe's or Ace hardware, etc. or even Walmart, Target etc. I have a feeling it would be much more cost-effective than at a high-markup RV supply store like CW.
Good luck with your search.

Ann uses something called picture putty to hold things without using picture hangers which mark the wall.

I don't know the name Vicki but I have a whole roll of it. I bought it at a camping store in Rapid City a few years back in the plumbing/electrical department. It is some kind of calking but I use it as sticky goo. It comes in a real large roll that will last for years but in the real hot weather some of the things have come off my wall too.
Betty S. has magnetic boards in her Big Sky that she put up with heavy duty valcro. She says that she lets it cure for 24 hours before putting the two pieces together and they stay.

You sure don't want bishop's tape on the side of the fridge! I've used it in different applications around the stick house. DW has used some "museum putty" in the RV for hanging pictures, but I'm not sure that would work in your application.

Everyone ... I truly appreciate all the suggestions ... and I may end up trying one or two of them if this sticky-stuff thing doesn't work out.
Art ... I wasn't looking for suggestions, I was looking for the name of the particular product we had used. Therefore I posted a description of the product and where we bought it to hopefully help someone help me come up with the name. Since we've traveled full-time for over 6 years (about 150,000 miles), I'm very well aware of what bouncing down the road can do to stuff inside the rig and the need for lots of re-enforcing of stuff like my magnet boards.
Helen ... I think you may be describing what I'm looking for! Any way you can find it and tell me the name so I can look for it online? Steve and I talked about resorting to industrial strength velcro if we can't find the sticky-stuff, so we'll give Betty's method a try. Thanks!

vickir, if you are looking for something to hang stuff on the inside walls try Industrial Strength Velcro. We used to use "earthquake putty" but as previously mentioned it tends to release in hot weather. The Industrial Strength Velcro is available in WalMart and is 2 inches wide and the adhesive is very good. We hold clocks, pictures and a big wooden calender on the wall and nothing has let go in the last two years. We used to use 3M Command hooks but the velcro works better... Dave

I tried sticky putty and a similar product by a different name. This board with magnets apparently is too heavy for that product. The board just slid down the wall over a period of a couple of days. I even kneaded the product per instructions before applying.
The product Vicki is looking for is a black, really, really sticky product. The name has "tac" or "tack" or "tacky" in it. Helen, what you describe sounds like it but we bought it in a smaller package/volume. I can't find it at Camping World's website. I may have just not ocme up with the correct search criteria.
We've tried industrial strength velcro before without much luck. However, we may try it again, using Betty's method of allowing it to set for 24 hours before attaching the frame. In the past I have applied the velcro to the frame, then attached the other half of the velcro to that on the back of the frame, removed the paper, and pressed it in place on the wall. That was to allow proper alignment with the identical frame next to it. Positioning is difficult because it has to partially slide behind the edge of the kitchen window valance.
Thanks for all the input. We'll get this figured out yet.
