Forever home!

Some of you know that a little over a year ago we "adopted" Spike. Spike is a hybrid of a Doxie and something else. Maybe a Cocker Spaniel. Anyway he is in his "forever" home with our daughter. He is with his best friend, Daisy. They play really well together.

I did OK until last night. Sure gonna miss the little guy.

We are slowly making our way south toward home (Bakersfield, CA) and spending the night in Yakima, WA. A few more nights before we arrive to torment Sharon and Bob (FireTrucker & FireTruckerWife) near Carson City, NV..

We had a great time on this trip. But the traffic around Seattle is awful! I thought Los Angeles was bad! Give me L.A. traffic anytime!! Happy Trails to all, Dennis and Mary Kay

There's no way you don't really miss them, they're a part of you.

Thanks to everyone who has replied. Didn't mean to sound so down! He has an excellent home now with a special companion whom he really loves. And my daughter lives within a few blocks of a huge dog run. He will be able to do things there that he could not and would not get at our home. So he really has it "made". I feel very happy knowing all that. I'm just being selfish. We had him just a bit too long I suspect.

I really appreciate all the nice comments. And we will be able to visit him as often as we can manage a trip up to the Seattle area. So in the long run it is ALL GOOD! Thank you all! Dennis

Dennis: We also know how you can become attached to a dog, but think, your upholstery is now safer!

Dennis. Sorry to hear about Spike. Our pets are a part of the family and they are missed when they are gone.

Thanks for giving him a foster home until he was able to get to his forever home. I know he appreciates it.

Dennis you gave him a good home until he found his 'forever' home! So now you can look forward to how he will 'remember' you when you visit him in Seattle! Dogs never forget their pack members! It will make your day! Safe travels!

Spike will forever be in my heart. He was a unique little guy from the moment he first entered our home. Buddy and Bandit accepted him immediately and he instantly became part of our lives for about an year and a half. And he has done the same thing at his now "forever" home. He absolutely adores Ms Daisy. In spite of a bit of adjustment Daisy and Spike continue to be best of friends. Thank you all for your concern but I know that each and every one of you would have opened your home and heart to him. Happy Trails to all, Dennis.

You are so right about the Seattle traffic. Mary and I spent four and half hours a few years ago heading south on I5 from Lake Union to Seatac. I think we only made Centralia before we pulled off the road for the day, we were just beat up by the traffic. Hope all of your travels are safe ones.
