Joy Needs Help

I need everyones help in getting the reservations set for the Spring Rally in Tucson at the Voyager RV Park! We originally told them we would be having 40 Plus, maybe 50 sites filled for the rally. We only have 21 sites reserved! This is an extremely popular RV Park and in order for us all to be able to be together they HAVE To have more (they want at least 20 more), Reservations made by the first week of January!!! Yikes!! That is not very far away!
We have also been working hard at getting activities going there during the rally, but a lot of it will depend on the attendance, not many vendors are willing to participate unless they know there will be a lot of people attending.

If you've ever wanted a reason to go to a MOC rally:

...meeting new lifelong friends.
...learning what experienced RV'ers know.
...eating great food.
...laughing until your guts hurt.
...the white elephant drawing.
...smiling 'till you crack your lips.
...wishing you had done this a long time ago.
...learning something new every day.
...fixing a problem on your RV.
...fixing a problem on your MOC friends RV
...getting someone to help with a modification.
...good advice.
...finding new places of interest.
...looking at other peoples modifications.
...going on a great vacation.
...taking the family somewhere they will never forget.
...actually seeing what those people that post on the MOC look like.
...seeing a new part of the country.
...experiencing spring in beautiful Arizona.

...and meeting Mel's Joy.

Sign up today, your help is needed now to reserve the space!

Because of the time of year and other commitments Lorraine and I have not been able to attend any of the Spring rallies. Hopefully this will change in years to come.
As of 12/1/07, The state of California has the largest number of MOC members at 231, Arizona has 73, New Mexico 21, Colorado 60 and Nevada 35. Now those are the states of Arizona and those bordering Arizona. There are many more members within 1 or 2 maybe 3 day ride.
I find it hard to fathom why, out of all the western US members, the best the "NATIONAL MOC SPRING" Rally can draw is 21 especially considering it is one of 2 "NATIONAL" rallies and, for some, the 1st MOC rally after a long cooped up all winter.
After having Wagon Mastered the fall rally, I can attest to the fact that your Wagon Master and her Assistants are busting their butts to get this rally organized for their MOC Family. I also think, that out of fairness to them, the membership should make an all out effort to attend this rally. simonsrf's post above "If you've ever wanted a reason to go to a MOC rally:" is so very true. So what are you waiting for a special invitation?? YES? Well scroll back to the top of this thread and you got it.

Now before anyone starts beating me up, I do know that due to circumstances not all members can attend this rally but I also am pretty sure there are a lot more than just 21 who can.

2008 Rally in Tucson

Well let’s see what we have going on:

Alaska: One

Arizona: One

California: Eight

Idaho: One

Michigan: One

Missouri: One

Nevada: One

Oregon: Two

Texas: Four

Washington: Two

USA: One

Canada: One

Total: Twenty Four

It looks like we have four surrounding states that are not sending anyone, and Arizona is only Joy & Mel??? What’s with this??? Must not be anyone in Colorado Nevada, New Mexico & Utah in the “MOC”

Tally up another one for Texas! Thanks Larry & Jena (VanMan). They have been long time members but have never been able attend a Rally before! We are going to do everything we can to make it memorable for them and all attending. Should be lots of fun!

Welll, I hate to be coming on here and doing this, but I calculated the cost for the trip out and back at around a Grand. This, after almost 6 month's on the road and here at South Padre, is just too much for Sue and I to undertake.
I thought we could swing it, but all of the trip would be on 'Plastic'. Not smart with our lack of new income. Just got our tax bill on our stick house..it doubled from last year.
Wanted to meet all of you, and help with things there.
Take care,
Ozz and Sue

Sorry to hear you'll miss the Rally! Maybe you could come out of retirement for a couple of service calls or do mods for $$$ !! I guess we'll just have to wait 'til Branson to meet you guys!! Have a safe and fun stay at SPI.

Ozz,
I feel your pain. That is one of the reasons we are taking short trips right now. I plan on being at the NAS Corpus the 15th through 22nd of December. Hope we can hook up somewhere for lunch or dinner.

Ozz, sorry to hear you and Sue have to pull out on the “Rally”, but with the cost of fuel and camping fee’s a lot will start talking shorter trips and stay closer to home. We need to be there so we can make it over to Arkansas to look up some family see you down the road.

Oh my gosh Jim!! No, No, No! Don't throw in the towel just yet! We still have 4 plus months before the Rally. You may again change your mind and decide to go despite everything, (well, you never know, it could happen, lol). Wait another month or two before canceling your reservations. We were soooooo looking forward to meeting up with you and Sue! Besides, we're suppose to be adding numbers to the Rally, not taking them away!

We sure will miss you if you don't come! Take Care.

Thanks, Joy.
If my ship comes in, we can always re-book. Right now the ship is listing to the Port side in a rather precarious position, I am a little pessimistic about it's outcome, but you never know.
We want to come so bad, but it's a double whammy, as the few customers I have, (not even a handful) will be needing Spring start up work, and we will be trying to recover from the travel 'Binge' to the Island.
If we can't make it, we will be thinking of you guys out there.

Okay fine! I'll concede! If you can't come, you can't come. But we sure will miss getting to meet you both. I was hoping to "use and abuse" Sue and talk her into helping with setting up some craft classes on our vendor days. Maybe next year?

What about the gathering in Quartzsite? That's boon docking at it's best the whole time. If a guy could manage to get here from there, there would be no park fees to worry about? Am I reaching too far again? Well we hope to meet up with guys somewhere down the road. You take care.
