Add an awning?
We have a High Country 345RL. It has the outdoor kitchen. I've seen a few other 5ers that have an extra awning over top of there camp side slide out. Has anyone seen or done this as an aftermarket solution on one of these?
The door of the kitchen does provide some cover when it's raining out a little bit, but I can think of times when it would be nice to have a cover over the whole slide.
This is the side of our rig:
This is kind of what I was thinking. Maybe not the same style with the rails on the sides, but the ones that open with a scissor action up at the top of it:

I like that idea if your going to have a slide on that side! Particularly if you had an outdoor kitchen located there!

As long as you do not have a slide topper an awning should be doable.

We have a second awning on our Dining/Living Room slide out, but it's mounted directly on the slide out not the RV's out side wall. Gives us full advantage of the full awning, rather than loosing 1/3 of it just covering the slide. BTW we have a slide topper on that slide.

When we purchased our 3120RL we wanted slide toppers put on all three slide-outs. Our dealer told us that they couldn’t put one on the slide-out with the awning. They said that there was not enough room for the brackets. I haven’t gotten up there to measure them yet but just eyeballing it, I think they’d fit.

Do you happen to have a picture of your set up?
I'd like to add slide toppers at some point as well.
So what it sounds like is that there is adequate structure at the top of the slide for the awning to bolt into since it's the spot where people also mount slide toppers?
I'm a DIY kinda guy, and after finding out what the labor rates were at the RV store I'll be doing all of the work on this thing myself.
Thanks for all the replies!

We wanted a 2nd awning and Talked to a couple of different Montana dealers. Both called Montana and were told there wasn’t enough support in the slide wall for it. Still seems doable but wind is a powerful force. Hope to see pictures of your install.

I've tinkered with plenty of different things in life, but I've never messed around with the campers before. I don't know how they are built or any of that. I wonder if there was a support issue if I could add something to the wall from inside to help it out...but then again I don't want to be tearing apart a year old camper just for some silly whim of mine. haha

Did you ever get a topper to mount up or was there insufficient room?
