Leaving Florida?
Ok, so we have been dealing with the increased traffic and busy stores all month around Ft. Myers, not to mention the courteous drivers....we decided not to head back north until around April 5th. Most of our snowbird neighbors said that leaving on April 1st is a zoo because tons of folks head out that day. True or false?

I think it depends on how far north you are from. We are in Va. and we came home a week early this year (March 5th) and all our Va. traveling friends are all back now. I saw a lot of units from Quebec on the way back but, I think they must need to be back for a reason.
We travel 95 local and the road is loaded with people returning and will be for many weeks. Have a safe trip.

Spring break, always interesting. Snow bird's retreating, also always interesting.
Called a campground near Daytona, filled up for April 1st, in fact, the dude on the phone told CountryGuy they are OVER BOOKED, and someone will not have a site.
Hope none of you were going there.

Having dealt with Florida traffic most of my life, I can tell you that I have seen I75 north of Tampa bumper to bumper most of the way to the Georgia line! I would sit tight if possible until the 2nd week of April.

We are leaving 3/26 for Illinois as we have for the last 3 yrs. Desn't seem to be a problem until Atlanta which is always a nightmare. Try not to travel on the weekends. Safe travels.

Could the migration North be in conjunction with when the parks raise the monthly RATES. Some parks do it 1 March, some 1 April!!!

We do not leave Florida near Disneyworld till the 3rd week in April and the travel North has slacked off by that time.

Dick, have you ever pulled Rt. 231 up through Alabama? We came down that way and loved it. Didn't have to deal with Atlanta. The CG just north of Troy we stayed at was really nice, cheap, and very friendly.

we just went up 231 through Alabama. Great road and very little traffic. we have always avoided pulling thru Atlanta--we did go thru Nashville the other day and we will never go thru there again if we have a choice..Very little RV traffic leaving FL last week but we know it gets heavy closer to April 1

I live the Ft. Myers area, and work as a paramedic for Lee County EMS. We find the large caravan north usually happens right after Easter. This year Easter is April 20th.

I agree, going through Nashville with a Montana stuck on the back of your truck is bad. We stayed at the Nashville KOA on the way down, but on the way back we are staying at Countryside RV over on Rt. 40 by Lebanon TN. I can take Rt. 840 over to it and avoid all the congestion of Nashville. I haven't decided on the route from there to I-24. I will probably have to take I-40 back over to Nashville and catch it, but at least I will only be on the northeast side of Nashville. But we do love coming down Rt. 231. Makes the whole trip more relaxing. I always get my advise on this area from Packerfan, he won't guide you wrong.
