Extended warranty pricing

If you don't believe in extended service plans, don't bother to read further. If you do, be aware that pricing differs from seller to seller on the very same plan. I bought a Ford Premium ESP for $1120 less than my dealer's bottom negotiated price. My dealer said "Go buy it, it is cheaper than I can get it myself." I shopped online and negotiated $200 off the price with the seller where I bought it. This plan is good at every Ford dealership anywhere in the good ole USA and Canada.

The moral of the story is to shop your extended service plan, but be sure it is the official brand program that is universally acceptable, not some fly-by-night scam.

I agree with Stiles 100%.We shopped around the country for our ESP then took the lowest price to our local Ford dealer and said we will buy it for that price and he met the price. We saved several hundred $$$$.

Just another way they can make money after the sale. Consumer beware.

Well, There is sooooo much electronic equipment on my new Ford that I can't pop open my tool box and fix it. The cost of my plan is approximately $183 per year amortized over 7 years. Just one two hour repair will cost $170 labor plus parts. Although I generally don't buy extended warranty, in weighing the likelihood of a major problem occurring at a most inopportune time makes the ESP a no brainer for me.

I bought an extended 8year/120k mile warranty from Chrysler for my new RAM 2013 3500 primarily because of all the latest and greatest electronic stuff that controls everything. Can't wrench these new babies!

I too bought the MaxCare 8yr/120k warranty from Ram on my 2012 Ram. My dealer offers me the same deal every time on the warranties...if I dont make a claim against it and the warranty expires, he'll give me a 50% refund of what I paid for it. I will buy it again on the 2014. As already mentioned, one major component failure and it more than pays for itself.
