Rain Fade/King Dome

Hello Everyone,

We were camping in good old not so sunny Southern California this weekend. We kept losing signal on our King Dome when it rained. It would work again after my poor husband climbed up on the roof to dry it off. He had to do this 4 times and not the safest place to be when it is slippery & wet up there!

We have seen a product called Dome Magic, has anyone used it and does it work?

Thanks all in advance for your comments!
Sue

We recently had a Winegard TRAV'LER Direct TV dish installed on our Monty.
We did consider a dome model but were warned about signal loss during heavy rains. The reasoning is the much smaller dish not having sufficient area for receiving the signal.
Today we had some serious storms with heavy rains passing over the Nashville area and not once did we lose the signal.

Not the advice you were looking for but from what I was told there is little or no cure for the signal loss problem during storms.

I'm surprised that you lose it with rain. My king Dome has been in a few (parked) rain storms and we have not lost signal. Now, if the atmosphere is heavy with thunder storm clouds, we then lose signal until it passes. Same at stick house.

Glenn, I waved yesterday as I passed Nashville, I'm now 120 miles East of you. Leaving this morning.
