Interstate 10 closed CA to AZ

I 10 closed east and west.

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. — A bridge collapse in Southern California late Sunday afternoon forced the indefinite closure of Interstate 10 — the main roadway between Southern California and Phoenix. The collapse also injured one person and stranded hundreds of motorists.

That's going to be a very long detour...

That is going to cause a very serious issue. If I remember right 20,000 vehicles a day. Good thing we're not wasting a lot of money fixing infrastructure.

When I was going east this last spring and got to Rawlins, WY I-80 was closed all the way to Cheyene. Detour was up thru Casper, WY and was 350 miles. This was the longest detour I have ever been on.

Just announced that it's back open with 'limited' service. Good luck getting through that!

Rand McNally just announced a new update to give detours for that issue.

Heard on CBS that it would be fixed by Friday? Hard to believe.

The fix is a temporary one until the new bridge is built. They are going to use the west bound bridge and cut it down to one lane each way. You'll be able to get through, but there may be delays.

That will be one busy bridge having to handle both East & West bound traffic. Even with a delay it should be better than going an alternate route. I thought there was some other damage or undercutting to the bridge that remained intact.

Well I don't know about you but if the bridge collapsed going in one direction I don't think I would be too trusting of the bridge going the other!

One lane both directions open. Restricted speed. Repair should be done by end of Sept. According to the Los Angeles news.
