Sliding closet door clips

Hery Keystone! Are you still putting those cheap plastic clips on the Mirror closet doors? The ones that break every 6 months or so. There are much better ones being installed on other brands.

My 08 has the same ones, what other ones have you seen as I would like to change them out.

My '08 of 5 mo. also has broken one of these clips. We don't use it except when travelling. The rest of the time the door is just push near to closed.
Montana, you should rethink these.

Our first ones broke on the first trip. I put "O" rings under the clips and have had no problems since. I found the cure on this web site.

Another option while you are sitting is to reverse the doors so the catches are on the side where the door opens to instead of closing the doors to the catches. This will prevent from fighting the clips when you are using the closet. We only use the clips when travelling and so far still have the originals intact. This was another great hint obtained from someone on the forum (if I could remember who, I would give them all the credit) that we adopted and it definitely works.

The only reason I don't like reversing the doors is because it puts the door 2" closer to the bed and it is already difficult making the bed. The better clips that I have seen were generally on Motor Homes but I am sure I have also seen them on Trailers.

Have you tried opening the closet door while making the bed?

Strange.. We have never broken a clip although we have several spare just in case. We only secure them when in travel and reverse them when stationary.Don't know about making the bed..I've never done that....

Al and I use 3 of the ideas here

1.) reverse the doors while in camp, saves a lot of broken fingernails, screaming and breaking of clips. Had our Tana since June 2003 and have YET to break one. (knock on wood, eh?? )

2.) open the door while making the bed, you can lean over and well, you can take it from there.

3.) installed the "O" rings. wow, the doors really close easy now!

anyone find a photo of the clips used on MH?? Maybe provide a URL??

Lived in the Monty for almost two years now; just broke one the other day. It snapped right off.

Don't know why I never thought of that. A huge DUH moment here. Thanx for mentioning this Vicki and Carol too! To think that I have had five years of frustration making the bed is mind boggling when I could have just opened the doors. I guess it's all not bleach huh?

When the Big Sky was re introduced last year they had a new sliding latch that will fit on the older doors. We have had them on ours since last year and have had no problems with them. We've been cross country east to west and now north to south and never had one come open as some have reported. Easy to install and they can't cut you like the other latches do. Think they were $5 a piece.

Should have been to the NE Area Rally. Arem gave each one of us a set of the NEW and improved sliding door latches.

They don't break your fingernails, scratch you, get in your face, or cause you to have to use the doors in any way but how they were intended. However does this bending over thing work on more than beds?

I broke one a couple weeks ago and cut my thumb in the process of opening the door. I would love to see these new improved ones. I don't want to have to replace these hard plastic things every 6 months.

Waldo, go to any hardware store and get some little rubber "O" rings that are used in faucets. Take your closet door clips off(two screws each). Place one "O" ring on each screw and replace the clips. If you don't tighten the screws all the way, the whole clip will rock back and forth on the "O" rings making it easier to open or close. It holds the door closed while on the road. Sorry I don't have any pictures.

I got tired of replacing them. I removed them and put a strip of velcro instead. No problems so far.
