Winegard Sk-3005 traveler problem UPDATE

So, antenna just stopped being able to find satellites after a brief power outage at the park (we have a surge protector). After hours with Winnegard techs, concluded must take to dealer when we get back (an authorized Winnegard service center).

Bottom line - could not diagnose problem. Ended up with them ordering me a whole new antenna. Luckily, covered by my extended warranty, but only because I had "luxury item" coverage......didn't even know I had that. Dealer said usually not covered.

Bottom line, we love our Traveler. But if you have problems be prepared to replace your whole antenna. Winnegard does not offer an extended warranty, so after two years you are on your own (1 year parts/labor, 2 years parts)You might want to verify if your extended trailer warranty covers it. There are not a lot of knowledgable people on these antennas.

Have had extended warranty on all three rigs and have either used them or received pro-rated refund when trading. Current rig, has satellite which is covered in addition to televisions, washer and dryer, dishwasher, two air conditioners, generator, etc. etc. Way too many high dollar items for me not to have the security of the extended service plan. Bad news about satellite dish, but good news that it is covered as is ours.

I agree with Bingo. Too many high dollar items in these rigs, supplied to Keystone by the low bidder.

We agree, having extended warranty is very worthwhile.

Different spin on this is I keep the TV, satellite receiver, DVR, blue ray player, and Winegard control box all on our pure sine inverter. We can watch the entertainment center anywhere, anytime, and don't worry about power interruptions or surges. Draws very little power. We even have the electic heating blanket on the bed on the inverter during dry camping. With solar, everything is recharged by noon.

We certainly use a good surge protector, but with the memory loss on the DVR and the reboot to the satellite receiver, we decided to isolate all of that from park power by using the inverter.
