winegard carryout

Thinking of getting a carryout and have a question. When you switch from a channel that is on sat 110 to a channel on 119 does it have to do the count up from 1 to 5 acquiring the sat or is it instant switch. Thanks

No it doesn't. It happens about as soon as you go to the channel. Very slight delay, hardly noticeable. Great little dish. One thing to remember though is it only takes the basic receivers. I use an old 311 receiver. Oh and one more thing, no HD on this dish. Might want to look into the the Winegaurd Tailgater also. They have a great deal on them and they are about the same thing as the carryout but much less expensive. There are people here that have them and will chime in I am sure.

Good luck on your decision.

we have the Tailgator through Dish Network. You can only use the 211k receiver and it only supports one TV. We do have an external hard drive hooked up to use as a DVR but you cannot watch a show and record another channel.
They offer the programming as a "pay as you go" plan that you renew monthly or you can drop the programming and re-establish again later when you need it again.

This of course only works on Dish so if you have Direct you will need to go with the carryout or vue-cube.

One other advantage the tail gator has is it gets it's power from the receiver whereas the Wineguard unit has to have a seperate 12V hook up.

I believe that the Carryout does support HD on Dish network.

I just got one from fellow Mocker, millerwm. I can get HD programing. It switches satellites about as fast as you can change channels. Works great. The Tailgater is about the same thing but less expansive about $500 which includes a Dish 211 HD receiver. You can check them out at any Dish network dealer.

yes on the question mine showes for about 2 seconds I have found if I use the guied then switch the chanel when in there, it does not do that the searching for satelite. I have the 301 reciever and weingard said that receiver had conflicting problems with the carryout and the 211K is the better receiver for there product.I also notice that at around 4 or 5 AM the satelite will start and stop like its going from 110 to 119 this also stops when I hit the enter button on the remote as if I was taking it out of sleep mode.

Yes it does support HD that is SAT 129 my dish shows all three satelites but only uses 110 and 119.. Sat 129 is not used because my receiver is not programed for HD just regular tv I would have to get a HD receiver to get them to show HD on TV.

Maybe the tailgater will become available for Direct TV. It looks like a good product.

DirecTV using any dome on the market does not support HD.

DISH Network does.

I take my VIP-722 DVR from the stick house and it works fine on the CarryOut. The VIP-722 is a high end DVR. I have also run it on my 322 Dish Receiver.

With the dish receivers I have I only need one receiver to watch two television, and if the channels are on the same satellite, then two different stations at the same time. A problem will exist if you try to watch a station coming off Satellite 110 on one tv and try to watch a channel coming off Satellite 119 or 129, or any different combination.

The Carryout has a dual LNB OUTPUT, not a dual LNB (two Horn) system. There is only one LNB inside the dome with two outputs for two different receivers if different receivers are used.
