Truck Wash

Has anyone used the Big Rig Truck Washes at the truck stops to clean the grime and grit from the Montana? Bad or good experience?

Seems like something to consider.

Regards and thanks

I've never used one of those big truck washes, but have heard nothing but praise for the job they do. I have no idea what it costs.

We've used the truck wash a couple of times. Both were relatively positive experiences. We will use them again. Cost was on a par with having someone come out and clean the rig. Actually it was a few $$$ cheaper in both cases.

Used one in Amarillo. Cost about $40 but it was well worth as the TT looked like it had been driven through a swamp before washing. They did not wash the roof though!

We have used them before we went full time and had a bunch of snow and ice to get rid of on our winter trips south. They worked great but you should tell them not to use full force with the power nozzles. That is a sure way of loosing the graphics... We usually had them do the truck at the same time and if I remember correctly it was under $75.00 for them both. They did get up on our roof but it was at least 5 years ago.

One word of warning though... Once you get in line with trucks ahead of you, there is no way to get out. You wait your turn and depending on the trucks ahead of you, this could take a few hours. Truckers are not always nice when they find an RV in front of them so if the line is long, I would go on to the next one.

We've used two different ones in Los Crucus, NM and they both did a very good job. Did both the TT and the pickup. (didn't do the roof).

I've used Blue Beacon truck washes. A great service and a good price with over a hundred locations.

Use their website for locations and pricing:

We too have used Blue Beacon with good results. We used a different one last trip out - don't remember the brand or where, but it was more automated with a "robotic arm" like most car washes and we stayed in the tow vehicle while a couple of guys used hand wands first. The pressure was so high and the angle of the pressure took off the outside shower door and one of our stick-on levels. Of course I didn't know until our next stop. We'll never use one like that again.
