Sealand Toilet is hard to flush....sometimes

Our Sealand Toilet is hard to flush....sometimes. When you press to flush or lift to add water the foot lever is stiff, then pops like and then is easy again ! Is there any grease/oil points/spot or is it just getting old and wearing out ? I have a '06 3400L so it's seen some use.
Thanks for any ideas and help.
