New Generator Problem

We purchased a Honda 2000i generator and it seems to be incompatible with the Surgeguard 50 amp surge protector in the Monti (2017 3440RL). The surge protector reports a fault. It indicates reverse polarity and no ground. Result is no power to the RV. Any suggestions?

A generator has to be grounded, ( or think that it is grounded, ) by wiring a 110 plug on the recepical for 110. Look on internet for plug wiring. I take it that you are using a contractor type generator?

I plug this bonded plug in my Honda 2000 and it works great. I have the Progressive hard wire and flip my remote to bypass and then works well except the washer kicks on so I turn it off at the breaker. If someone can figure out why the washer wants to kick on then let me know.

The Sureguard does not have bypass ablility. The bonded plug will resolve the issue.

If pairing 2 Honda 2000 generators together, will a bonded plug be required in each generator? I run my solar system whenever boondocking and have never had to run generators, but would like to have 2 bonded plugs available if more power was needed as I have the Progressive surge guard hard wired.

I'm Mike Sokol from the No~Shock~Zone and RVelectricity.com. I designed this solution for floating neutral generators around 10 years ago, and Progressive has a video of me demonstrating it as a solution for this problem with their EMS products. See

Here's an update to my original No~Shock~Zone article on this topic which shows you how to make your own G-N bonding plug or where you can purchase one: https://www.rvtravel.com/rv-electric...onding-basics/

On my Progressive Industries built in/inline unit I just use the remote to turn it off and everything works fine. I figured because the generator is an inverter that the voltage will be just fine for me using the Satellite Dish and the TV. No problems, a lot of people use the grounded plug. When I was talking to P. I. about installing my unit I decided not to run my built in Onan through the unit just shore power as that is where most problems seem to occur.

I called and talked to the company about the same problem. When running on generator pull the breaker when not in use. The washer is still thinking when not in use. It will make lock and unlock the door. So when we are on gen we leave the breaker off until we want to use it. Hope this helps you.
